Yes they are the same scale. They also come with the new season 3 cards and rules.

It's not a rumor -- SFG confirmed this in their keynote speech at Steamcon. Moving forward, new guilds are going to be released in plastic using the same production method as the Kickoff minis used. They intend to move to a release paradigm with 6 player starter boxes and 4 player expansion boxes, all made out of plastic with tokens and health dials mixed in such that people can just slot this stuff straight into the Kickoff box with no issues.

Single miniature releases in season 3 for the pre-existing guilds are, at this point, still going to be individually packaged metal miniatures. Eventually they intend to revisit the old guilds and start repackaging / rereleasing them in the new plastic 6 player starter / 4 player expansion format, but they've said that that is a ways away. Maybe in season 4 that will start happening.

sorry to jump in, so they are going to be all unicast minis going forward? No more metal minis?

That is nice and sad. I do enjoy having a little weight to my minis. Hopefully the price will at least reflect the change

So, my understanding is that the plan for season 3 is this:

New models for existing guilds will show up in single packs made out of metal.
The Farmer's guild starter set will be a six model box set made out of plastic.
No information on the additional Farmer's guild members. They may be individually packaged metal, or they could have the 4 player expansion box set made out of plastic like they said they wanted to move to in the keynote speech.
No word on the other new guild being released in season 3, but there is little reason to think it would be released in a different manner than the Farmer's guild.

Moving on to season 4 it is anyone's guess. They've said that at some point they are going to want to re-release the metal guilds into the plastic starter & expansion box sets, so maybe that will start happening in season 4. At this point nobody knows, not even Steamforged, because season 4 is an entire year away still.

So, in the short term, metal models will continue to be the standard for old guilds, and new guilds will (probably) be exclusively plastic.
