Hello all! I'm looking at getting a starter painting set to get going on my IA minis. I was thinking acquiring some sort of set of 20+ colors as a good base (to save money in bulk) and then I can supplement holes where necessary. I'm using Sorastros guides as a starting point as well.

Anyways, anyone have any good recommendations for a set that covers many of the bases? Also, what are some good retailers that potentially have Black Friday deals?

List of stuff I'm going to get:
Color set (mentioned above) either Vallejo or Citadel
A few washes (probably Citadel)
Primer
Varnish finisher
Brushes

Thanks!

Interested in this as well. Haven't painted figures in a long time, but it'd be nice to get these IA figs done up (and paint those Descent figs I got off an auction). So yeah, any deals, or heck... what's a good starter set (deal or not)?

I'm not a pro or anything, so maybe it pays off to have Citadel paints if you actually have talent with painting, but I just used acrylic. There were some acrylic paint sales recently on Amazon.

This. I went the cheap route and got cheap acrylic paints (~$1) and some droppers at the local craft store (e.g. micheals) for the wash i do one drop paint, 10 drops water. Usually works fairly well, but I am in no shape a professional either

fwiw, Reaper Miniatures just started their December promotion. Their website is MSRP, though. Anyway, here're the Learn to Paint Kits, which are a great way to learn painting *and* get yourself a starter set. First kit is OOS, though : http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/learn%20to%20paint%20k...

FRPGames has a discount, but is also OOS : http://www.frpgames.com/cart.php?m=product_list&c=286
