Got back into RW over the years. Revamped some of the aircraft charts for the early years of the war. Here are some of my takes on the early fighters.

Nieuport NIEU/16 (FBT) C - 9 4 8 6 - 4500 150 250 5 6 B Served in 1916, predecessor of the legendary 17.

Morane-Saulnier MO-SA/N-B (F) D - 8 3 7 6 - 4700 100 200 4 5 A 110 HP version of the RFC Morane-Saulnier N type -- the Bullet.

Albatross ALB/D1B (FBT) C - 8 4 12 12 - 5000 150 300 6 7 B First version of the Albatross fighter, 150 HP Benz, single gun version.

The 16 is a real Eindeckker hunter.

The Nieuport 16 was a Nieuport 11 with a headrest and used by the British. The 11 was much more common.

You might consider the Nieuport 10 and the Nieuport 12 2-seater.

Nieuports & a Fokker:

Nieuport 10A NIEU/10A (FRA) D - 7 4 6 6 - 4000 100 200 4 5 B /French two seater used as fighter against early German reconasince two seaters.
Front machine gun operated by observer.

Nieuport 10C NIEU/10C (FT) D - 7 4 6 6 - 4600 100 200 4 5 B /French fighter version of the NIEU/10A. Not sure how many produced, but it was out in the field. Used as development model of Nieuport 11.

Nieuport 12 NIEU/12Q (BRTA) -/D C 8 4 8 -/6 4000 50 250 4 5 B /More realistic version of the NIEU/12. RW has the plane with a 5500 meter altitude. Sometimes, French didn't install front machine gun in the field. Used as a fighter early in the war.

Fokker Eindecker FOK/E3 (FT) C - 7 3 6 10 - 3550 100 200 4 5 B /Single gun version of the Eindecker. It was the single gun version that started the arms race in the sky. Good hunting.

June 1916 'Wings Of Canvas' - A Mini Campaign

Kasta 23, an elite outfit, has been moved into the operating areas of RFC Squadron 19 and two seater Squadron 49. Their DH/2's and AVRO/504's have taken control of the skies over Moliere. The Rumpler C1's are armed with their front machine guns. For 5 days, there are 3 to 4 flights from the Tommies of bombing, photo recon, & fighter sweeps. Kasta 23 is tasked to take back control from the RFC.

Kasta 23: 6 RUM/C1 active/ No reserve aircraft. Day 2: Replacement gunner. Day 3: Replacement pilot/ RUM/C1 from air depot. Day 4: Replacement gunner. Squadron 19: 9 DH/2 active/ 3 DH/2 reserves. Roster has one ace. Day 3: Replacement pilot/ DH/2 from air depot. Squadron 49: 9 AVRO/504 active/ 3 AVRO/504 reserves. Day 2 Replacement gunner. Day 3: Replacement pilot/ AVRO/504 from air depot. Day 4: Replacement gunner.

Points - go off of "Bloody April" except for 3 points for a German plane. Shallow dive rule should help the Tommies in the fighter role.
