Look for opinions on whether or not it would significantly affect balance and/or playtime to use any or all of the following rules? These are all independent of each other:

• If an attacker rolls higher than a defender, the attacker may choose to shrink the defeated piece instead of causing it to retreat. Alternatively, what if the defender chooses (stay and fight or cut their losses) which option to enact?

• An attacker may choose to decline entering into a space vacated by a retreat.

• If a defender rolls higher than an attacker, the attacking piece shrinks. On a tie, both pieces remain in their territories at the same strength, as before.

• You must control of the spaces of an *opponent's* continent to win - continents that started the game without pieces on them do not satisfy the victory condition. However, if you control a non-starting continent at the start of your turn, you receive one free Grow or Build action on that continent before choosing your normal action.
