Hello everyone,

I just recieved my copy of Evolution : Climate this morning, and I'm doing a simulation of a 3 players game.

English is not my first langage. I understand all rules except one which is unclear for me.

In my game, there's 3 players, each one with 1 species and 1 population.
At the very first turn of the game, in phase 1, each players recieved 4 cards + 1 one card (for their species).
During that turn, 1 player used 2 cards, and kept the 3 others. In the rulebook, it is written that "there is no limit to the number of cards a player can save in their hand for a later time" so I believe it is possible to save cards and use them in a later turn.

Now, we are in turn 2, phase 1. During phase 1, you must deal new cards to players. And this is where I'm not sure what to do.
My player have 1 species.
- Musst I take 5 new cards no matter the 3 cards I already have in my hand (so I'll get 8 cards in total for that round) ?
- Or is there a max deck number depending on the species ? Here I've got one specie, does that mean that I should have 5 cards MAX in my hand, only picking 2 cards from the draw deck ?

I hope my question is clear so you'll be able to help me !

You just add new cards to the ones you saved from last round. It you save cards for multiple round, you can have 20 cards in your hands with 1 specie on the table. You probably won't win, but you can have them

If a game needs it, I feel forced to create and implement some variants.

No, players don't have hand limit and receive new cards even having some saved from the previous turn. Players can save cards to use them on the feeding phase (check intelligence) and/or save "resources" to the next play cards phase.

First there was Hearts, then there was Spades, and now we bring you Clubs. The suit of clubs finally gets some respect!

There is no hand limit size. You can save all your cards till the last round of the game if you want!
(though it's a bad strategy)

The rule is, in other words:

Deal 3+X cards to each player, where X is the number of species that player controls. Do this regardless of how many cards that player currently has.

It's 4+X in Climate, instead of 3+X as in the base game. Regardless, the saved cards don't matter for how many new cards you're dealt.
