Hey Guys,

I just noticed there is a new edition and a new rulebook in it which can be downloadable in the files section on BGG.

How better is the new rule book compared to the old one. The old one was the opposite of a masterpiece... Is this one worth printing it?

Does EVERYTHING is clear in it and all little details of the rules are in it and easy to find?

I did not look into the rule and compare them yet. But from what I heard from many board game reviewer, they said it is better.

The improvements in the new rulebook are top notch; it really clarifies what was a mystery in the first edition. I definitely recommend it.

I've heard a printed copy of the updated rulebook will be made available on it's own after the game it out in December.

We put a lot of time and effort in this new rulebook to include most of the Comprehensive FAQ matters from initial edition, and lots of unanswered questions that were here on BGG.
So yes, it should answer (almost) everything

As a matter of fact, Portal itself ends up saying :
Old rulebook -> explains nothing
New rulebook -> explains everything

There's going to be a 2nd edition upgrade thing to buy right? The upgraded components and rulebook I'm assuming or did I dream this up?

yep there is. But for those of us that already purchased all the pimp stuff from Portal game directly, the upgrade pack isn't an option as we'd have to purchase all that stuff again just to get access to the printed rule book.

(Yes I could print it off, but I'd prefer a published version I could pay Portal for. My post above was referring to an email I had with Portal saying that would make a printed copy of the rulebook available to purchase on its own.

I have honestly thought about buying the entire game again as 2nd edition and give away my 1st edition copy. I'm like "$20 to get upgraded components, but then what do I use the old components for? A bit more and I get the full game and have 2 copies..."

I got my new rule book in the mail and am very aggravated at the fact it is to big for the 1st edition box. I am not sure how useful a second edition rulebook is if it doesn't fit into the box of the game it is for. If stored out of the box, eventually it will end up damaged. If I knew it wouldn't fit I would have just got the 2nd edition and put the 20 towards that.

There are 4 editions of the game from a number of publishers. If you check on the game's page under the "Versions" tab, you'll see 18 "versions" listed. Which one is yours? Portal? ZMan? Which printing? US? European?

Obviously, Portal games will not print multiple copies of the new edition of rules for each of the various box sizes as that would be inefficient. They simply printed extra copies of the latest edition rules.

My suggestion would be to grab the PDF of the latest edition of the rules (free to download) and have it printed to the size that you desire.

It is the Z-man coffin one which is the same as portals 1st edition, aka the book was never going to fit in any box outside of the 2nd edition it seems.

Got mine a while back, and can agree that the 2nd edition will not fit without folding. Mildly disappointed, as I'd already got all the "extras" from Portal for the ZMan edition, so there's not much else I can do other than live with it as I wasn't going to get a entire printing of the same game to make the rule book fit.
