The Weekly Electronic Football Simulation (WEFS) is a play-by-email game that has been running since 1995. It is a resource management game completely separate from real life football (or soccer if you like) so your team and players can have just about any non-offensive theme, it doesn't even have to be name of people! WEFS origins from games such as United, UEFL, EEFL and so on, reasonably similar to ESMS as far as I can tell.

We just finished the 22nd season with the bi-seasonal World Cup and have three vacant slots to fill for the next season beginning in January 2017.

If anyone is interested in a traditional email game, in which rosters and match reports are sent as text files and orders as well are submitted as text based commands, the latest version of the Rulebook is found here. The game is so old-fashioned it doesn't have a flashy web page, just a directory index with all current and archived results.

The commisioner is Timo "Timppa" Ojala, who can be reached at skidi AT ee DOT oulu DOT fi for further questions or submitting a novice roster according to the rulebook above.

Hopefully we can eliminate some of the autopilot teams that pad out the league with new, hungry managers. Are you one of those?
