These sex acts being officially banned from UK porn

Quote:
A list of sexual acts have been banned from UK pornography for being offensive, obscene or potentially 'life endangering'.

On Tuesday evening MPs did not oppose the third reading of the Digital Economy Bill, bringing it well on its way to becoming law.

The bill, once enacted, will see multiple sex acts banned from pornography, and also force consumers to request access to porn by signing up to an age verification programme.

The verification programme has been criticised for its implementation, which some argue would inevitably lead to a register of viewing habits of users.

Following the unopposed reading in the House of Commons, it will now go to the House of Lords.
Banned acts

Specifically, websites will not be banned from hosting the material, but banned from showing them to anyone in the UK.

Some pornography already does self-censorship, such as xHamster which prompts users searching for 'rape' videos on their website to get psychological treatment.

A clause of the Digital Economy Bill applies the rules of the Audio Visual Media Services Regulations 2014 decree to online porn.

This means that video-on-demand porn must adhere to the same rules that govern porn available from a licensed sex shop.

These are governed by the British Board of Film Classification, which gives porn an R18 rating, and limits what sex acts can feature in pornographic content.

These are the sexual acts that have been deemed "content that is not acceptable" by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) for reasons of obscenity, or for being potentially 'life endangering'.

Spanking
Caning
Aggressive whipping
Penetration by any object "associated with violence"
Physical or verbal abuse (regardless if consensual)
Urolagnia (known as "water sports")
Role-playing as non-adults
Physical restraint
Humiliation
Female ejaculation
Strangulation
Face sitting
Fisting

Criminal and illegal acts banned by other legislation are also banned from pornography, as a matter of course.

The application of these rules also lead to a lot of informal regulations such as 'the four finger rule', whereby porn producers cannot create any porn that includes more than four fingers entering an orifice.
Unsatisfactory

The bill is all pervasive in some areas, and surprisingly lax in others. Critics from the right such as former culture secretary John Whittingdale have complained that it fails to cover pornography that goes unregulated through social media sites such as Twitter.

The porn clauses are not the only controversial parts of this bill. The proposed law will 'crack down' on online ticket hawkers, and also transfer the cost of free TV licenses to the over 75s to the BBC.

The minister responsible for the bill Matthew Hancock has said it is "not a utopia, but a very important step", and recognises the inefficacy of many of the porn clauses.

A lot of porn is trashy and exploitative.

The pornographers should have stopped with Paris Hilton and Mr. Saloman [sp?] Duet at the end of "A Night in Paris".
That was so beautifully composed and performed.
But... was that "porn"?
Or a cultural socio-anthropological study?
Or a sex-ed "how to"?

Wonderful lighting.

Wow that's fucked up.

I get not wanting to show life-endangering stuff -- strangulation is the pretty standard one that more people are into, or breath play in general -- that can legitimately kill you, I can vaguely understand wanting to censor it (or at least putting a warning label on it.)

But female ejaculation is life threatening? Ridiculous.

I'm guessing female ejaculation is dangerous by the same logic as watersports, due to urine content. Never mind that pee isn't likely to actually hurt you, and the fact that there's a bit of it in male ejaculate, too... too much of it is just gross and probably deadly.

Also age play. Littles are some of the safest people to hang out with in the leather community, unless you're deathly allergic to coloring books and cartoons. I get that some people might not want to see an adult wearing a diaper because they think it's creepy or whatever... but "potentially life-endangering" is quite a stretch. Unless they mean by hate crime?

Edit to answer:

Jeez... I went through that "if it was banned, it probably won't be boring!" phase in my 20's. Then I realized that a film can be offensive to someone and dull. So... more than I care to say, but not all of them. XD

Sure that bit is.

Here is a link to the bill on the parliament website. As you can see it has tons of stuff in it and porn is just one bit amongst many. From the discussions to the debate most of it seemed to be about age-verification on commercial (and this includes non-paid for) porn wrt children. Unfortunately there seemed to be Labour support for that as well as Tory and very few people spoke against.

A lot of these go back to the 1984 law (which refers back to law made in 1959) which was used for porn on those new-fangled video cassettes. This current bill doesn't mention any of the listed activities. I am pretty sure that the age-play thing is more aimed at "teenage school-girl" roleplay, or at least that would be in the minds of most MPs.

Sorry 3 posts in a row is bad form.

But a good article in The Guardian and the intersection of the bill with certain porn.

That was a good read. These things do tend to target producers of non-mainstream porn... and it does seem to be a cheap political tactic. Most people don't exactly want to stick their necks out to defend adult entertainment of any stripe, which can be problematic, so it's an easy target to go after the evils of the porn industry. And it's not surprising that niche/bdsm/femdom practices tend to be a common target. Technically, someone could probably suffocate to death in a lot of positions, but "face-sitting" would sound particularly scary for people who haven't done it.

Female ejaculation? Seriously?

It's like things are rolling back to the 1950s lately.

I just wish when they found porn in wealthy people's collections, smart phones, or hard drives they would punish them instead of letting them off with a non-aggressive wrist slap. Then we might see ridiculous laws like these rolled back.

Tories being hypocrites. What's new?

(okay, let's be fair - MPs from all the UK's parties are hypocrites about this, but the Tories are historically the worst, and also frequently the funniest)

Again, this bizarre obsession with sex and controlling it... shake

No, the official line is that there's no such thing, it is a lie. Therefore it must be urination, which is "obscene".

(and if you're wondering about the official line on whether the female orgasm is also a lie, and whether there's thought on that being declared obscene too, well...)

Is that a fact? Please, take that thing away, it smells unpleasantly and spoils the mood...

(yes, I know it doesn't - I even know which gland is thought to produce it, a sort of female analogue of the prostate. But we're talking about moronic scum who have no interest in facts, science, or bodily autonomy)

For another interesting perspective of the female orgasm and how icky it is thought to be regarding public consumption, watch "This Movie Has Not Been Rated."

EDIT: Whoa. For a second there, I thought I had just Shreved. But then I realized I hadn't color coded it, so I'm okay.

Um. Not to burst bubbles, but there is a pretty high urine composite to it, which is why women struggle to get there unless they're really, really well-hydrated. There are also other fluids going on (as mentioned above), so it's not going to taste or look like much other than a higher concentration of the juices you already get from that particular lady... but yeah, there's some urine in there if she's squirting. Which is okay and still perfectly hot.

I mean, depending on how hydrated you are and what you ingest, plain ol' urine won't always taste/smell like urine either.
