During Thanksgiving, I introduced my wife and two others to Betrayal at House on the Hill. The haunt that we wound up with Haunt #11 - Let Them In. After playing for quite some time, we chose to quit out and play another game. And then again, after reading the Traitor's Tome, I began to realize that the heroes and the traitor were both playing their parts wrong. So, I'm looking for a couple of clarifications:

Question 1
Spoiler (click to reveal)
The Traitor's Tome reads that, on the monster turn, the Madman must move by the shortest route possible to the closest face-down Specter token and then opens the window. It does not say that the traitor must. Can the traitor ignore traveling the mansion and opening windows to prolong the game and/or fight the heroes while the Madman does all of the work?

Question 2
Spoiler (click to reveal)
The Traitor's Tome reads, "[The] explorer is still in the game but has turned traitor." The Traitor's Tome also reads, "The Madman can't attack heroes before all the Specters are inside the home, but he can defend himself if attacked." I believe I know the answer, but does this mean that the heroes can kill the traitor and continue to stun the Madman?

Question 3
There was a third question, but I just read the rules again and we played that wrong.

Yes, the Traitor has free will and can do as he or she pleases.

I recently played this Haunt and after letting in all Spectors, I had the Madman help with killing the Explorers with the traitor. The Tome says the Madman continues to explore, but doesn't say he CANT attack with the Traitors. Am I good?
