Rahdo = a generally very reliable reference for what I might think about a game.

I have used his videos many times to decide whether or not to buy a game. I also find his videos very entertaining.

For me, it is good to find someone who seems passionate about gaming. Many video reviewers are...frankly boring and hard to listen to.

While Rahdo rambles a bit he gives a real perspective of how the game plays. I'd rather invest 20 to 30 minutes watching a few turns of a game than someone telling me in a 5 to 10 minute overview how the game plays and what they think about it.

Historically, I think one of the main difference has been....If you are interested in Euros you likely watch Rahdo. If you are interested in AmerTrash you watch Vasel. More recently Watch It Played, Man vs Meeple and Gaming Rules all do quality work.

Not sure why the Love / Hate over Rahdo in particular but this seems to come up pretty often now. I guess watch what you want - at this point there are many options. For me personally Rahdo has helped me decide for or against games and that has helped me make more informed purchases. I bought Russian Railroads (a game I wouldn't have looked at because I thought it was a train game) based on Rahdo's video. It is in my top 10 games.

By far the best thing about Rahdo is his rambling over decisions. It gives you a real idea as to how the game actually plays, not just mechanically, but the sort of decisions you'll need to make and how you'll make them. He talks how I think, and I think that's more important than someone just verbalising the rule book.

Two things.

* When I'm looking for a multi-player game that I own that I want to play with only 2 players.

* When I want to see how it plays with only 2 players.

* or when I want to see how a game would play if I was acting as two or three people playing the game by myself.

My favorite game media maker.

Also, I love when he discovers a choice he hadn't thought of and goes "OOHHHHhhhhh!"

Richard... Ah... Doh!

I've never met him, so I have nothing to offer in that regard, but I enjoy what he does sufficiently to contribute to his Kickstarter campaign. Why, has he joined David Bowie, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Gene Wilder and Muhammad Ali?

Easy... One of the best sources for gaming analysis that looks at the 2-player aspect.

And he and his wife don't like to have to fight it out much. So I know sometimes his tastes will differ a bit from mine.

He is a most positive influence in the gaming community. Brings a sense of fun & joy about games and gaming. I mean, who wouldn't want to play a game with him some time? I certainly would.

I prefer 5-7 player direct conflict games and everyone knows Rahdo prefers 2 player minimal-conflict games so I've found that his videos are entertaining but usually not very helpful in finding games for my collection.

This captures it pretty well for me. I really enjoy the way he demos gameplay as it gives me a very good idea of whether or not I might like a game, regardless of his opinions about it. The stream-of-consciousness narration is often hilarious as well.
