At the end of every round, is it that necessary to change all the man/woman tiles? Especially in a two-player game when ocassionally none of them is taken. Can we perhaps get rid of the two left-most and slide the rest to fill in the missing tiles? Will that change the balance of the game drastically?

This is for convenient sake more than anything. I am actually thinking of asking this same question for Trajan as well.

Yes it's necessary or else some of the man/woman tiles might not come out during the game! Since there are goal tiles that require specific man or woman tiles you need all tiles to come out at some point during the game, otherwise you could be stuck with a goal tile that can't be fulfilled.

If you can get multiple tiles the same, you can play more efficiently. If the current tiles stay there, you may not get to ever see the tiles you need.
