Just to let you all know that if you haven't booked your hotel for the expo

DO IT NOW!

Take That have announced they are playing the same weekend at the Genting Arena in the NEC complex.

If anyone is interested I'm in the Premier Inn. It is a 15 minute walk from the venue but I got it for a fraction of the price. Plus I need the exercise!

I'll be there.

I've booked the Genting Hotel for 2 night from Friday to Sunday. Premier Inn is the most affordable, there are some discounts and a list of hotels are here http://www.ukgamesexpo.co.uk/accomodation.php

I noticed the prices for rooms was a good double last year. I blame the new Netrunner tournament taking place. May just have a day visit this year if I can't get a cheap room.

How much was it Guy?

I'm annoyed. We were going to book as soon as dates were announced and found a room for £130 for two nights. Now I can't find one under £300 that doesn't involve driving

I booked the Holiday Inn Express Birmingham NEC with previously earned points. It took quite a lot of points though!

I booked the Genting ages ago for the Friday night. Hope to stay for a slug of Saturday, but need to negotiate the finer details with the boss.

All booked! 128 for the 2 nights, 15min drive away. Everything in the vicinity of NEC was sold out of 400+

Thanks for the warning, we would've left it for May next year if we didn't know!

Gali could you share which hotel, maybe others will book it and you could all car share each day to save on the rip off NEC car park charges!

Oh yes, sure. It's only the Premier Inn. Here's a link to it. We always stay at Premier Inns but last year's was one on the other side of town. This one is much closer (Google maps says 15 minutes by car).

Premier Inn Solihull

You can get it for even cheaper without an option for cancellation/changes.

Just make sure you drink it all as you'll need all your boot space on the way home for board games

I hope to make it this year but won't know for sure until much nearer the time. It always falls at the same time as my youngest sons birthday so that has to take priority.

Depends how tall he is. If he's not that tall you may need to, to get the beer out of the bottle and into the glass.

Never been to the expo. Is it different each day? Worth paying for hotel to go all three days or is one day enough?

I only did one day last year and didn't have enough time for it all. Didn't even really play anything. Hence why I'm doing all three this time.

And if I've had enough by Sunday I will go into the comicon next door

We only did Sat&Sun last year because we only found out about it literally the week before. We were going for all three days this year but due family commitments we'll have to skip Sunday. But that was a shorter day anyway and I think Friday and Saturday might be better.

I don't know if you'll be able to find a hotel though - apparently Take That have a concert there that weekend..so if you don't mind the drive you can just come for Saturday.

As to whether it's different each day - not the expo itself but they have different events on the different days. Might be worth checking out the schedule to see if you'd like to be there for anything in particular.

Hope all that makes sense

I've always done Sat and Sun, but Saturday is always the better of the two as it is a full day. Hotel prices are crazy this year, so if I go, it will be a drive up on the Saturday only.
