for creating the badge!

Once again, Christmas draws near.
The good children will be gifted with presents, while the bad ones will receive charcoal. Which, actually, is a pretty nice requirement for a contest ..

So, this month's requirement will be:

Charcoal

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.

Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

The only reason I even know what charcoal means is that it is the stuff you can create in Minecraft by burning wood. In case that gives anyone any weird ideas for a 24h boardgame.

You guys were right, this is very addicting! Such a fun way to challenge my creativity.

I'm working away now. I've realized that I have to not check the theme until I'm ready to devote 24 hours because my mind starts churning and coming up with ideas right away. I got my idea today while out walking at 3:20 pm.

It might be as far from Christmas themed as you can get, but I'm doing a charcoal grill game! I'll have my post with the completed game tomorrow

It is ok to start thinking aboit the theme before the 24 hours begin. From contest rules: "You may prepare your contribution mentally as long as you like; the 24 hours are your limit for the physical part of the game (rules, components"

Oh! I could have sworn it said idea to finished product was 24 hours. I don't know why I keep missing things in the rules. One of these months I'm going to get it right.

Grill Time

Roll, reroll, and lock dice to grill more food than your opponents.

A real time dice game played in parallel with any number of other people. Dice have charcoal sides and food sides. Different foods cost different numbers of charcoal to finish.

It is New Year's Eve Day and guess what I have to do today?
Design a game!
It is a special day, it will be my 36th straight contest.
What a ride.
Thank you all.
I love it, but I wish there was more time in a month.
I must update the geeklist with the 3 years of entries.

I base it on California time. I am ahead in Taiwan similar to New Zealand.
But people in California enter so it seems fair. As long as its in 24 hours. I started once with less than 12 hours left in the month.

You got Coal!

2 player
5-10 minutes
Age 6+

A press you luck guessing game about seeing if you can predict your stocking stuffers and do it the most.

Setup:
Shuffle the cards and place in a single pile face down.
The player who has been best behaved all year goes first.

Play:
Before the player flips a card they must predict what it will be.
A player can predict 3 things.

1)An item in the stocking
2)the color of the background
3)If there is coal in the stocking

If a player guesses the background color, the player can continue to guess but the card does not go into their personal pile for points.

If a player guesses a correct item in the stocking, the card is set off to the side. If the player wishes to stop, the card then goes into their personal pile. If the player wishes continue they can guess again. If they choose another item correctly they could choose to put both cards into their personal pile or risk it and guess again. If they are wrong they get no cards to put into their pile.

If a player guesses that there is coal in the stocking they get all the cards in the other player's personal pile. If you guess coal and you are wrong, you lose one card from your personal pile. That card will go to the bottom of the draw pile.

End:
When there is 5 cads left in the draw pile. the game ends and whoever has the most points wins.
