This can get to be an expensive hobby. Just curious about how much you invested into this hobby. I ask confidentially via poll.

I hope it is not over 10K yet but I do not dare to add it all up. whistle

(And my BGG list is maybe about a quarter of what I actually own.)

I think the current value is around $40,000. So, $80,000-$90,000?

I said 2k-3k but it's probably actually in the 3-3.5k range.
That said, i started my profile here just under 8 years ago. I also didn't count money "made" from selling games I don't want any more.

~400/yr isn't bad for a hobby that gives as much enjoyment as gaming, and can be shared with many different people.

I also go to at least 2 cons a year (though I haven't made it to the "big" ones") which can add 75-500 per con.

I didn't realize how many games I get from Amazon. I did a "search orders" for the word "game" and though a lot of them are either video games or apps, it's a 7 page list.

I've spent a ton on board games when I restarted in the hobby 2 years ago. I am surprised I spent that much. Fortunately I am single and can afford it somewhat, but what I've spent is way more than I anticipated. I did my due diligence choosing highly rated games and ones I like even if lowly rated as well. I went bananas in sales so probably got a lot I would not like as much if it weren't on sale lol.

Board games, miniatures and rules, and MtG (plus a very small amount of RPG expenditure) over the last several decades?

Easily over ten thousand, and worth every cent.

For a start, everything I've ever bought in this branch of gaming I can lay a hand on at a moment's notice and pull out to use whenever I want. And I've certainly made plenty of use of the vast majority of it.

It`s a bit difficult to tell, really, because I have gotten many of my games as gifts, and those are games I probably would have bought myself at one point. But I estimate it at between $3000 to $5000. I have a small collection......

In 2016 dollars maybe 8000$ to 10000$. This was spent mostly over 35 years. So that comes out to about 250$ a year. Over that time I have played about 10 hours a week (not including solo play) so let's say 500 hours per year. So that works out to 0,50$ an hour. Not bad.

This does not include countless hours of solo play. This does not include countless hours of entertainment reading rule books which I honestly enjoy doing. This does not include the fact that I am now recently retired and can now increase my hours a week of playtime.

I have not included the hours of game play that others have had from my game collection. For example I ran a high school game club for 10 years. My estimate is 20 kids playing 150 hours per year. That gives about 3000 player-hours per year. This brings my collection cost down to under 0,10$ per hour. Impressive. Cost effective comparing to many other activities.

I really couldn't say. Could anybody truly say how much they've spent on a hobby over their lifetime?

So many good ones I wanna try out though. Will probably reach $2000 by the end of next year.

There used to be a site that gave you the total cost of your collection but I think it stopped working last year?

From 1/12/11 - 11/28/16 I've spent $16038.14 on 102 orders of board games at coolstuff. With additional purchases at other online sites and my local flgs. I'm easily in the range of 20k in just 6 years. I believe I'm in need of an intervention.

That site gave the current value of your collection, not what you paid for it. Depending on when and where you bought the current value could be very different than what you paid.

Thanks all, I feel a lot better about my numbers! (See honey, I'm in the LOWEST 30 percent!)

Although for some reason I forgot Kickstarter when doing my math which would add at least another 1k.
