I traded a while ago for a copy of 2nd edition, and it contains, for reasons I am sure were related but I cannot recall, the board, rules, and cards, and perhaps the tokens and stuff, for the first edition in the box, as well as the then-current stuff.

Anybody have an idea of why the previous owner might have done that? Was there some quality to the 1st edition that might make one prone to revisit it?

All the rolls in 1st Ed were 1d20.

Insanely random feeling. Someone might have stuffed it in their hoping to come up with a way to convert the scenario to the 2nd Edition system, as IIRC, it took a long time before that adventure was re-released for 2nd Ed.
