Well the monster pig is turning out to be the fraud I was thinking it was. In fact it's turning into a bigger fraud than I thought. Not only were the pictures distortions to make the pig look bigger than it was but it wasn't even a wild hog. It was a domesticated pig named Fred.

It wasn't exactly what I would call a hunt either. They herded this domesticated pig into a fenced enclosure before shotting it. So this dangerous wild pig was really a domesticated animal they put in a pen and then stood back and blazed away. Not exactly the brave hunters they portrayed themselves as.

There was no Photoshopping, but the kid in the picture is MUCH farther behind the pig than the picture suggests.

Exactly. The picture of the kid is clearly an example of moving someone farther back to make the object in the foreground look bigger. There is another picture of the pig from a front view with people behind it and it's clear that the pig is much smaller than the original picture made it look.

Must be a pretty piss poor shot to shoot 16 times and only hit about half a dozen. Its not as if it was a small target.

Even though its not as big as they claim it to be, its still a bloody huge pig.

yeah, it's how they did all kind of neat things in movies a long time ago ("Darby O'Gill and the Little People" springs to mind) and recently made hobbits all hobbity in the LOTR moving pictures.

Lots of forced perspective at Disneyland too.

Notice an interesting slip in the final paragraph:

Quote:
"We were told that it was a feral hog," Mike Stone said, "and we hunted it on the pretense that it was a feral hog."

Well now, someone acting with genuine intent might have been hunting the pig under the pretext that it was a feral hog, but "pretense"?!
