The past week has been incredible! Thank you so much for all the wonderful questions, comments and love! It is now time for me to pass the torch to the one of my favorite geeks. As a boardgame advocate and museum aficionado, she seems to always be making the world a better place. I am so fortunate to have the pleasure to introduce you to the fabulous Nicole Hoye!

"Hey BGG! I’m Nicole and I live in snowy Toronto (after growing up in Australia and spending a couple of years in London, UK) with my dog Jake. I work at the Royal Ontario Museum, and as you may have caught from my username, I love museums! I studied anthropology and museum studies in University, and have a passion for museums, for all they are and do.

While museums are my jam, I’ve been into board games for many years now as my hobby. I played the usual growing up (Monopoly, Game of Life, rummy etc), but when I hit University & discovered the games club (I was a D&D player), I was introduced to modern board games. For years I relied on the games club collection, and stumbled about a bit in the dark trying other stuff (while BGG had started the same year, I never knew of it!). Now, many years later living in a city that is lucky to have board game cafes, I’ve been gaming far more frequently and discovered so many more games - and also BGG!

I worked at a board game cafe for a while here and got to know a lot of local gaming folks that way (we have a great tabletop community here in Toronto), and fell into loving all sorts of games. I still love classic Euro-style stuff like Carcassonne, Castles of Burgundy, Isle of Skye & the like - but I’ve also had a great deal of fun getting into quick/light games, card games and party games; so, pretty much an omnigamer!

Until 2015 I hadn’t been to any publicly open tabletop-specific board game conventions - BGGCon was my first! And it was amazing, as was this year’s. I’ve now also been to GenCon, and in addition to our newish local con (Breakout Con) I hope to make it to some others in the coming years like Origins, Geekway to the West, and the Granite Game Summit.

You can find me writing occasionally at The Daily Worker Placement, as one of the hosts of the new Greatway Games podcast - as well as running the Twitter for both, and tweeting a bunch at @iheartmuseums. I also take part in an every-other-Fridayish livestream with my friends Maggi, Suz and Steph called Games on the Rocks, over on the Meeples Included Twitch channel. I guess I just really love talking about games So, it’s nice to meet - let’s chat!"

Yay! Geek of the Week is on a great roll! Nicole is part of so many awesome things.

Everyone should come to BreakoutCon in March to play games with Nicole. I will! That's where we first met in person this year after the tweeting.

What's the quirkiest/strangest museum you've enjoyed, and why? (Iga Ryu Ninja Museum for me!)

Besides the obvious weather RIGHT NOW, what's the one thing you miss the most from Australia here in Toronto?

Does Jake have a favourite game he likes watching?

If there was a perfect mashup of a museum's collection or attitude and a game, what would you like to see?

Is there a foodstuff you miss from the UK?

What game that you have played are you most excited to play again right now?

Yay Nicole!

I have three questions for you!

1. What's your favorite museum-themed game?

2. How long did it take for your accent to fade after leaving Australia?

3. Are you really coming to Granite Game Summit?

Enjoy your week!

Hmm, this is a tough one! Probably the Medical History Museum in Berlin. It's fascinating and strange.

Secret: I don't miss the weather in Australia And honestly, I just miss my friends. Plus some of the beautiful places like hinterland rainforests and beaches - it's a pretty awesome unique place.

Not even when it goes to minus too many here suddenly, earlier than we're used to? Like this past week? gulp

That's why I said right now.

He hates them all! He's always SO bored, poor little muppet Hah!

This is a tough one! Most existing 'museum' games focus on art/galleries and I'd rather see a natural/cultural history museum represented. The museum game I want to see is kinda percolating in the back of my head and has a bunch of stuff pilfered from games - hand management, tile laying, balancing budgets... and more. There's a reason why it's still percolating in the back of my head So maybe Patchwork meets Bohnanza meets Lords of Waterdeep? LOL.

I used to drop into Holland & Barrett a lot to pick up snacks and I miss loads of the tasty treats they had in their grab and go fridge!

Roll Player!! Gosh I had a lot of fun with that at BGGcon.

Because most are art-themed, not too many! Haha. But the Gallerist is DAMN GOOD.

2. How long did it take for your accent to fade after leaving Australia?

Hmm, probably a year of living in the UK. And then about a year after coming to Canada the whole thing became a mess

3. Are you really coming to Granite Game Summit?

One day! This year it clashes with the Gathering, but next year I'd love to come.

I miss being able to get (vegan version of) meat pies. They don't really do those here.

The Polar Vortex hot toddy.

Rogue. So sneaksy!!

IT ME!!

Well, that's just mean. But it's obviously Walk the Dogs.

2. Favorite winter cocktail?

I really dig some warm mulled cider with a dash of Kraken rum.

For sure running/managing a museum. I've never quite seen that represented in a game in the way that I understand it to be.

*points up* It clashes with my main con of the year! I am hoping next year the date will be different so I can make them both. Yay! Will I see you at BGGcon some time?

Have you ever travelled out to Western Canada?
Australians seem drawn to Banff, for some odd reason, so you should get along well with everyone there.

Ha, I tend to not gravitate towards where other Australians are. I like meeting new different people I have been to Vancouver a couple of times, but it's been AGES since I was there last. I really want to visit again in 2017, and maybe the year after that get out to see the Rockies and Alberta - and Dinosaur Provincial Park!!

Should there be an adorable dog themed brain burner-y euro game?
