I have thoroughly enjoyed both Family Games: The 100 Best and Hobby Games: The 100 Best.

Each is a series of 100 essays by various "stars" in the gaming universe, and those essays are simply whatever the writer felt like saying about each particular game -- some are reviews, some are reminiscence, some have strategy tips, comparisons to other games, or even a bit of history about that game.

To me, both books are just plain fun to read, and sometimes I pick them up just to browse, to read an essay I haven't read before, or to enjoy again an essay about a favorite game.
