CNN currently has a poll for America's current ranking of pastimes. Let's go give boardgaming it's "fair" share of votes!

Would be cool if we could shift this thing like we shifted Chad's "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner" shirt design. But at 175,000+ respondents, methinks that won't happen. Still, it's a fun poll. Surprised myself that I actually do 10 of those things pretty regularly.

I'm surprised that board gaming beat out video gaming.

Bah. I didn't match up with any of them. Half of mine aren't even in the top ten! Though, I think the results are skeued, sp?, as people who play video games don't really go on to other sites than gaming sites. If there was a large movement, aka people actually moving, then we would see a different population represented. I just don't see many gamers logging on to CNN.com and voting.

What pastimes do you like that are missing?

I'd also include on this list:

Computer programming
Drawing/painting
Genealogy
Attending sporting events (they have 'playing sports')

But thats just me.

Personally I like writting, but I doubt that's really a big enough pastime to justify putting on the list. Although they could have put in a catch-all category for arts (drawing, painting and whatnot).

An arts category would seem appropriate. I'm surprised board gaming is beating cooking and hiking. I know a lot more people who cook and hike than boardgame.

Not really--as in all self selected polls, who votes is bigger factor than anything else. Who goes to the CNN site? Older, more serious people who don't by and large play video games.

Put the same poll on MySpace....
