Heya. I am starting to write sci-fi (not a game). One story done so far where I used situations I was familiar with (set in Vancouver involving robotics and policing). I also joined Critters.org.

However I want to learn more about orbital travel, orbital construction, advanced communications, and the solar system.

What are some good books and web-sites? I have Encarta '06 which I know will be useful but books are hard to beat. I can get any book from Amazon through my local book franchise (Coles/Chapters).

Robert Zubrin's 'The Case For Mars' and 'Entering Space' are good starting points.

For asteroid mining / space construction, check out:

Also have a look at the X Prize:

For SF generally you want John Clute's 'Encyclopedia of Science Fiction' and Norman Spinrad's 'Science Fiction in The Real World'.

That is an excellent resource.

Ya, I have followed the X-Prize which is an incredibly promising effort.

Thanks!

Keep 'em coming!

Sweet!

In my storylines I use Nano as a type of WMD. Nasty stuff if engineered as a virus.

Thanks!

I remember this when it was news a while back. I always wondered if light could be teleported why couldn't pictures be taken with this technology.
