For my own nefarious purposes, I have need of a massive quantity of six sided dice. I would prefer a variety of colors, but mostly one color is perfect as well.

A couple questions:

1) Do any of you have a volume of dice that you would be willing to part with (and get 3% to the geek, of course!)?

2) What are some good places to get bulk dice?

I guess I don't need THAT many dice. . . 200 or so?

Rompcat!

Here's 200 dice for you cool :

Randomize Timer
For i = 1 To 200
Print "Die " + i + ": " + (Rnd(5)+1)
Next

assuming that Rnd(n) returns a number between 0 and n, including 0 and n themselves. All you need now is some sort of Basic interpreter / compiler to run this piece of code, see for example here.

The temptation to ask just how many 6-sided dice you can load into your butt, and why you'd want to, is exquisitely balanced by the fear of a honest answer, or worse, pictures. (*cough*goatse-man*cough*)

I think the working title is "Bucket o' Yahtzee"...

Or he might be putting together a prototype for Yspahan: Advanced Edition

A metric buttload or a standard English buttload? (As you know, metric is slightly smaller.)

The cheapest source I could think of would be: Goodwill (thrift stores). Yahtzee and Risk are easy to find there. You should be able to pickup a load of games that are filled with dice.

I love the word 'buttload'--I use it all the time. "Buttload, buttload, buttload..." Just last night (true story!) my wife was quizzing the kids at the dinner table on some basic nutrition facts: "How much fiber do you need to eat every day?" The answer hopped right out of me, before I could stop myself, much to the children's delight.

And so a fact gets replaced with a funny for the rest of their lives...

Whoever said "EDUCATION STORE" deserves a cookie! Looked online at an education supply store and got the best deal -- even better than the dollar store!

At least, a buttload of dietary fiber is a more appropriate use of the word.

The six sides are a good deal.

And they have these strange "quiet" six sides, too! Anyone ever tried them?

I have some of the EAI blank dice. The are very asymmetrical and not suited for anything requiring equal results for each face.

I'm not familiar with the piped dice though.

You can get dice in just about every gift shop, convenience store, restaurant, gas station, and bathroom in Las Vegas. Plus, you can probably find someone to employ that will "buttload" them for you as well. devil laugh

I received my EAI dice today, and they're perfect! I was very worried they would be asymetrical, but they're just fine. Great price and perfect for what I wanted.

They're certinaly not very high end dice, however, but they're better than some of the dice I've gotten in some of my games.

If I needed very high quality dice, I'd perhaps go elsewhere, but I needed over 200 dice for large, multisided Starfight games. The game needs ~8 dice per ship, and three folks with 10 ships each would need 240 dice. This particular vendor not only sells them for a fantastic price, but they are already split into three colors.

ALSO OF NOTE!: I got some catalogs with the dice, and they are FILLED with things that would be fantastic for making game parts. All kinds of cubes, "roads" (a la settlers), tiles, dice, and shapes painted and not painted. Many of the same dice offerings from more expensive retailers (like dice within dice) are also in there. It's a hoard of goodies!

ADDITIONALLY: They threw in about 9 bucks worth of extra merch. Two packs of "overhead dice." These dice are 12 sided and perfectly clear save for six sides with the pips from a six-sided die. You can roll them upon an overhead projector, and they will show through wonderfully. Perfect for a teacher, but what am I gonna do with them?

Any ideas?
