A common Strategy of playing with 4 or less players (i.e. each player would have a chance to found a 2nd nation): is to have the 1st nation to have as many merchants as possible (to generate as much income as possible), and then found the 2nd nation with as high a par price as possible to take advantage of chance to issue extra merchants. Then use the money rise by the 2nd nation to buy ships for both nations.

In a 5 players game, as there are only 8 nations, 2 of the players would not be able to found a 2nd nations. As the 2nd nation is usually found at 3rd MR, thus these 2 players without the 2nd nation would usually be the starter and the 2nd player.

Anyone know how to play well in these 2 players' position?

I realized that one of the possible solution is to not founding your 1st Nation right away, instead only found your 1st nation when others are founding their 2nd nation. In this case you could found your 1st nation at as high a par price as possible, plus you didn't need to rescue your 1st nation.

This tactic is perfectly okay with the 1st player, as no matter what the 2nd player did, you could always able to found a nation due to your position. But if you are the 2nd player...
