Pilot Jean-Luc, Engineer Titikit, Marine Diamond and Scientists Xylon and Dr Zetsche met at the briefing room in the command center. Titikit and Xylon arrived from their previous mission on another ship just in time. The others came straight from home, still enjoying their vacations after completing the academy last month.

The vacations were forgotten after the briefing.

The objectives:
A silicoid ship was lost near the distant planet AY78827. Investigate and rescue the ship if possible.

The Firefly (Size 5) was equipped with a tractor beam, loosing an engine instead. While jumping in the system, Titikit upgraded the life support to support everybody on board. They entered the system. The long range sensors showed that they were 19 spaces away from the silicoid ship. It was still there! But it wasn't moving and responding. Strange. In the background they saw a planet. More interesting was, that there were three objects floating around the missing ship. They seemed to be as silent and static as the ship itself.

Everything was too far away to find out more. So the pilot accelerated the ship to speed 5 and the marine prepared to launch a science probe towards the ship. This, he never did.
Instead, the long range sensors revealed that each of the three mystic objects each launched a missile towards the approaching Firefly. The crew sweared and prepared to counter the attack. Diamond launched a warhead missile against the nearest missile platform and began to head back to the cannon. Titikit was encouraged to switch the cannon to multi fire and to pump for more energy. Unfortunately, Engine and Cannon were far away from each other..
While Titikit did her best to fulfill all the requests, Jean-Luc tried to further accelerate the ship. He must have been a little bit nervous because what he really did was to reboot the control console at the worst moment possible: The ship did not accelerate. Instead it was shaking and shrieking, as the OOC was increased badly. He blushed and tried to steady the ship as fast as possible.
Afterwards he gave a report to the command center. The new command:

Do a fly-by near the silicoid ship at speed 9. Scan for the log entries to find out more. Do everything what seems necessary to defend the ships. Rescue the silicoid ship if possible.

The crew had other things in her mind, three missiles were approaching fast. Although everybody did all he could, the first missile could not be destroyed. Fortunately it missed and it was possible to destroy the trailing missile. The second and third missile were destroyed while approaching. The crew was relieved.

Three waves of missiles were started against the Firefly before the last platform was finally destroyed. Not one of the seven missiles actually hit the Firefly!
One reason was that, finally, Jean-Luc managed to accelerate to speed 9.

Xylon and Dr Zetsche started to scan for the log entries. They found out that the silicoid ship had approached the system to search for resources. They had scanned the planet but found that it had been nuclearly devastated by a war centuries ago. The silicoid crew had given up their plan to search for resources and prepared to leave the system. Three objects had launched from the planet and approached the ship but had not been detected by the crew as nobody watched the scanners. They had surrounded the ship and begun to launch missiles. The first hits had damaged all of the three engines and wounded several silicoids. The ship had been loosing energy and speed very fast and finally had come to a stand still. Badly damaged and still within the 12 hexes distance around the planet it had not been possible to flee the system. The last log entry ends with the report about some impacts on the ship. Then the lack of energy had made it impossible to record newer log entries.

Further studies by Xylon and Dr Zetsche about the silicoid ship showed that opponent forces were still on the ship, but the enemies' forces were not stronger than the of the heroes.

Hearing this, Marine Diamond (a Silicoid) convinced Dr Zetsche (Human) to join him in a boarding operation. Diamond was all the time a little bit too eager to shoot something or somebody so the crew debated some time about the options. Finally they concluded that it would be better for everybody if Diamond was on another ship when he actually begins to shoot something or somebody. The Firefly was still travelling very fast, such docking was just a long term option. Thus, Diamond and Dr Zetsche entered a boarding missile towards the silicoid ship.
Dr Zetsche was badly injured during the impact but still conscious. Diamond damaged a pebble at his hand and immediately demanded to be healed. Dr Zetsche still first tried to heal himself before fixing Diamond with some concrete.
As they were discussing, two combat bots approached their location and opened fire. Diamond was responding (“Damn, there is no weapon in my hand!”) and finally managed to hit one of the bots with his blaster. Dr Zetsche (a scientist) first analyzed and then attacked. The EMP grenade he threw, destroyed both of the bots at once. The first bot was damaged too hard to detect and flee from the grenade, the second bot was just too slow.
Xylon revealed on board of the Firefly that all opponents were defeated.
Finally, the Firefly was able to tractor the Silicoid Ship out of the 12 hexes zone around the planet. Dr Zetsche on the Silicoid Ship and Xylon on the Firefly programmed the hyper drives of both ships to jump out of the system towards home.

Edited to correct several mistakes in spelling and grammar.

After the mission I found out that we did some mistakes, the one mentioned in the report: The heroes in the boarding missile suffered damage from the impact. This is not in the rules, I think.
Nevertheless, I felt it was ok, because none of the missiles managed to hurt someone
