Just bought this and wonder if anyone has played this solitaire and if so is there anything I should know? Sounds unlikely :-(

I would say this is not a good solitaire game. The whole idea is to plot movement and hide your forces from your opponent.

In fact it's quite the opposite in that the best way to play is with a 3rd non-player umpire doing the searches for both players.

The good news is that there is a very nice VASSAL module so playing PBeM is very possible and enjoyable.

For a true solitaire game of WWII Pacific carrier warfare, Carrier (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/1679) is better (since it is designed as a solitaire game).

Thanks to you both. Thought as much. Will try it on Vassal and look at Carrier.

I have uploaded a simple A.I. for AH's Midway which allows you to play solo. If you have that game it may give you the carrier fix you are after.

Edit: Just realised you posted this six years ago!

Thanks for the reply! That's the joy of BGG ... doesn't matter if it takes six years for someone to reply. Good news is I have a copy of Carrier now, so my Flat Top sits unopened in the cupboard (unpunched I should say).

:-)
