So let's say that you have luke skywalker diwn to 2 life and a rebel trooper almost at full life. Your opponent has rolled all their dice and got only a single dice that has 2 damage. You play heroism to get rid of their only damage dice and deal that damage to your rebel trooper. Now luke lives to fight another day. This is of course a completely hipothetical situation and is not the only good situation for this card.

Except that a rebel trooper isn't a unique character so it would need to be the other way round. Trooper on 2 health, Luke with full health, he becomes the hero and take 2 damage to keep the trooper alive.

It is useful for two things.

1. Protecting a low health character by removing a die that would do fatal damage to one of your characters.

2. Disrupting a chain of dice. If the opponent has 3 dice; 1 "1 range dmg" and 2 "+2 range dmg", by removing the 1 range damage the two +2 range damage becomes useless.

Heroism is essentially a one shot Guardian effect.
