This question is a bit silly in my opinion, but I promised my group I would get some input on it.

What happens if your branches begin to crowd out another player? As in, you grow your tree in their direction to prevent them from playing cards on that side.

I am of the opinion that you would just carefully slide your tree over a bit more. I mean, this would have been a non-issue had those players just started the game a little more spaced apart.

Some thought it could be considered a good strategy though. Opinions?

Agreed. Make it so.

You can play this game on 4 infinitely large tables.

Your question should not be an issue. It is not a valid strategy.

I would not play games with people who think this a "good strategy".

If you want another real-space game where this actually would be a valid strategy, you might try Lazer Ryderz.

It's not within the spirit of the rules in the least.

The only rules on branch placement is that you cannot overlap your own cards when it comes to other branches you're not placing, you must have them attach to the original branch in an organic way, etc. There are no rules for interacting with other players' cards for the very reason that you're not supposed to be interacting with them.

This ends up being a spiritual question. And I think, spiritually, the cuddly kodama I have met and befriended would not feel comfortable living in a forest in which some trees were plotting malicious tangles against other trees. This isn’t a brooding Grimm forest. It’s all benevolent whispers and ultrasonic giggles.
