Hello to all,

I can't seem to find the answer to this one, so I hope someone can help.
Some challenge cards allow you to start the first round of combat in any phase of your choice. For instance, Farrow's Outriders allow you to do that if you pass a Hide test.

My question is: if I start the first round in, say, Magic, do I then continue with Ranged and Melee (in that order) before going into round two, or do I move straight into the second round of combat?

Nope! If you start in Magic then you will proceed into Round 2 (normally ranged).

Happy new year!

And having an ability like that is nice if your character is strong in magic and ranges... a nice 1-2 combo to take out a monster!

From the rules:

The Combat Round
After all participants have resolved their “Before Combat” abilities,
the battle proceeds to the first combat round. Each combat
round is divided into four phases, which must be performed in
order every round:

1. Escape
2. Ranged
3. Melee
4. Magic


Slight clarification Matt; normally my group proceeds to the Escape phase and not the Ranged (in case you get dinged hard and feel you need to run!).
