I'm proofing rules for a wargame designer, which will be published in 2017. (mysterious and tantalizing, huh?)

What is on your table for this month?

Still struggling with this. I tried a Vassal GS game today with the first scenario, but realized I have to put in a bit more work before that's going to happen.

Crazy, right? I mean, these games came out forty years ago? I haven't played them in at least three decades. But, our new PhD military historian at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College used to teach at Naval War College and has a trunkful of old Avalon Hill games that he's now rediscovered and wants to play. Who am I to refuse? I figure I'll get him playing these golden oldies and then move him into more current titles! That's the plan, at least. Of course, he'll probably also want to play WAR AND PEACE, GUNS OF AUGUST, and AIR ASSAULT ON CRETE before we get there, but I think I can handle that!

Meanwhile, all these other titles are showing up that I'm dying to get on the table, but I'll have to be patient!

I printed off the rulebook, scenario, map, and pieces for Agincourt in the Men of Iron series. I'm really excited for this one, and already am wishing that Men of Iron was in print right now because I think I will really enjoy this. Looking forward to this hitting the table January 2017!

I am excited to get Normandy '44 read and to the table! I have looked forward to this game for quite some time; I have solo'd France '40 a couple times a while back and remember liking it and this will be my first Normandy game (aside from Heroes of Normandie which has about as much historicity as Catan).

Still thumbing through Circus Maximus and waiting to get it played.

Brushing up for a future game with BGG User silentwarrior. Not necessarily reading just going through the bits I can't remember from earlier in the year (which is quite a lot!).

Still trying to get these bastards figured out! I'm not sure what my issue is with these but I just can't get motivated to learn them; I am sure I am missing out on something awesome!

I hope not so crazy...I still have a few old AH games that I've never played. The crazy part is how much more difficult it is to read those tiny numbers on the counters now...

Me and my vassal opponent decided to play this next after our game of Empire of the sun. So I'll start reading the rules next week

Also this month a friend is coming over to play our first game of Paths of glory. I already looked at the rules before but I will need to read them again to refresh my memory.

I've just finished 2 readings of the rules for On To Paris 1870-71: The Franco Prussian War. Now I'm soloing it and doing a lot of rules rereading. Fortunately, the player aids do a great job of summarizing all of the important rules, so I am going back to the rulebook less and less.

I have this rulebook on the table.
And the errata sheet assembled from Consimworld posts.
Plus the separate full simulation rules.
Oh, and the campaign rules from CSW.
Almost forgot, two scenarios from the S&T website.....
Now, once I get some duct tape and glue.....

I finally decided that it should not remain unplayed any longer - want to give the German Solitaire game a spin in the coming days. The rulebook seems very well written, but there sure is a lot to process and digest.

I think this is the first solitaire game where I really would like a couple of people with me just so we could process it together as a group. Actually, I think that's exactly what EA:A is: Butterfield has devised the first group solitaire game in the history of wargaming.
