Subject: Clarification about Stars/Guests and Events rss

Hi,

Can anyone help clarify a couple of things:

1. The guest capacity is indicated by stars and is capped at 15 (unless capacity is increased). For Events (Media Blitz) and City Events that give extra stars (eg. 'A Gourmet Convention' that gives 5 extra stars if park contains a food outlet) are these stars technically guests and counted towards the park capacity or are they on top of the park capacity?

If they are on top of the park capacity are they still called 'Guests' or are they just 'stars'? For example if you have 'Media Blitz' and 'Sponsorship Deal' does the 'Sponsorship Deal' give you another 8 coins for the 'Media Blitz' so effectively getting 16 coins for MB.

2. During the 'Events' stage, when carrying out actions from Super Attractions, Casino etc that say 'Once during the events stage..' are these event like the card and so can only be played one at a time going round player-to-player? For example player 1 plays an event card, player 2 plays an event action from super attraction player 3 plays an event card etc.

The way my family plays it is, as long as it's your event turn, you can complete these extra 'events' a long with an event card. Thinking about it, the order of play is important. For example Player1 has casino.

Scenario1: Player 1 plays event card and carries out casino action, gets money

Scenario2: Player 1 plays event card, player2 demolishes casino with an event card. This scenario P1 doesn't get money because they no longer have a casino and that could change things quite a bit.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Just a quick thanks to Joel, Kate and the team for creating such as awesome game! My family loves it. They always want to play and we get so mad at each other when attacked but have to remind each other it is unfair! LOL

Hi Rose,

The gold stars in your park indicate how attractive something is to draw in visitors, and the total of gold stars is how many people want to visit your park - this is referred to as the "star total".

The black stars indicate the park capacity, the limit on how many guests will fit in your park - this is referred to as the "guest capacity".

The star total is calculated by adding all the stars on your open attractions, upgrades, and staff members, plus any special effects from Events or City cards, and then the total is limited by your current guest capacity, eg. even if 24 people want to visit the park, you can only sell tickets to 15 of them (to prevent overcrowding and meet city safety regulations )

Any effects such as Media Blitz add to your star total but don't increase your guest capacity, thus they're only useful if you have enough spare capacity to benefit from the extra stars - no point advertising like crazy if your park is already filling up by itself.

For the events, anything that happens in the Events step is considered an event. This can be playing an Event card from your hand, or using an ability on a card in your park which is marked to take place in the Events step. The City card is also an event, since it is played during the Events step.

You can only play one event at a time - playing an event in the Events step, whether from an Event card or a Park card ability, counts as your Event turn. This stops one player from activating all of their park card abilities at once and gives other players an opportunity to respond to what you've played.

What this means in practice is that if you have park abilities you are worried will be closed or demolished, you should use them as soon as you can!

The only exceptions to this are the blocking cards, such as Powerful Friends or Security Guards, which are an immediate reaction to another event. Those aren't "played" as such, instead you discard them straight away to block the attacking event, and you still get your own event turn when play comes around to you.

Hope that helps! I'm glad you're enjoying the game

Okay, so I am a little confused by how much money I should collect at the end of the guest phase.

I have an image here of my park. From what you see here, how much money do I collect?

Thanks

First, count stars, including staff and the main gate. The total is 11.

Stars represent how many people want to visit the park, and Capacity is how many you can actually fit, so check that the star total doesn't exceed your capacity. Your capacity is 18 (15 + 3), so 11 stars is fine.

Gain 1 coin for each star, or 11 coins.

Then the Snack Seller allows you to choose an open ride, and gain 2 coins for each star on that ride. I suggest the Twister Rollercoaster The total stars there is 7, so you'd gain 14 coins.

Total this round is 25.

Don't forget to factor in any bonuses from Events and City cards (Funfair/Unfair).
