Score: 54

Rounds: 7

Perfect start. Had 4 scouts and trade pod in first hand. Got Blob World.
Took 4 damage. Had 4 scouts and Viper in second hand got Blob Destroyer. NB was at 45 and I was at 40 when I got three bases out. An 8 a 7 and a 6 shield. It was over after that. I hit it with 26 then 11 and then 22 and he could only take out 1 base, the 6 before the end.

Pwew Pwew.

This was a big fight and I really thought I was going to lose bad. I didn't have any blobs show up during the Embargo but the Trade Blob let me get some powerful early buys, which lead to more cards. I also invested in bases just after that, and they took the brunt of many of the Beast's blows.

In Round 11, I sacrificed a Mothership (I think) to get an extra 6 hits on the Beast -- that round he got hit for 25. I was down 8-12 on Round 12 and I was able to do 15 points of damage. Glad I made the sacrifice.

Been a long time since I did one of these. Thanks for running it Shaun.

Wow!
Some more new Commanders!

Welcome to the battle. devil

It seems like the Trade Pod is the "go to" ship for a win in this challenge, appearing five times in the top 10 scores.

But then I guess it also appears five times in the bottom 10 scores as well?

At least we are slowly turning the tide against the Beast!

Finally got a chance to try this again.

Card: Ram
Score: 25
W/L: Win
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 9

I got a lucky second turn buy of a blob fighter and destroyer which along with a Cutter acquired to keep up my health led to a fairly comfortable win.

Now to try again and get revenge with the Trade Pod...

I like for the chance to get a high value buy in the early two rounds.

That was my thought too... even better -- a high value Blob buy in the early two rounds but that didn't happen in my game (though I still won. Did I mention that?)

First time I join a challenge. Wanted to try the Nemesis variant anyway and this seems like a fun way to get into it.

Results were not so great though. Lost every game and constantly getting lower scores. I guess I will play a few more after work.

Another new Commander.
Welcome to the mayhem. devil

I know some of you have already done so, but feel free to make a post about your exploits in this month's SGoYT.
Solitaire Games On Your Table – January 2017

After all Star Realms Made it to #47 in the Top 100 Peoples Choice awards, so it would be great to get this game some more exposure.

And don't worry if you are new to the list as there have been a lot of posts already this month from long time lurkers.

While watching Marty (maloma) play this, my interest was piqued. I decided to take my stab at the Nemesis Beast. Here are my pitiful results.

Card: Blob Destroyer
Score: -17
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 4
NBAuth: 66
Rounds: 9

This one hurt! I thought that I had a good engine being built ... and then the world came crashing down. Plenty of Blob cards came up AFTER the embargo and one after another they took my life away.

Card: Ram
Score: -1
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 12

After the last game, I did not think it could get worse. I was wrong. I was SO close to finishing off the Beast and needed to hit him with three points of damage. I got mostly economy cards though and could only muster two points of damage before he finished me off.

Card: Ram
Score: 8
W/L: Win
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 13

VICTORY! I finally won. A couple good rounds of 10+ damaged, coupled with a couple of Trade Federation cards helped keep me in the game. This was still a close game though.

Card: Battle Pod
Score: -3
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 2
NBAuth: 58
Rounds: 11

Decided to go for a smaller embargo and it looked like it was helping, but alas, my draws did not hit when I needed them to in the final rounds. I had thought about playing with the Battle Pod again to give it one more chance, but ...

Card: Trade Pod
Score: -4
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 2
NBAuth: 58
Rounds: 13

... I went for the Trade Pod and it came out to be about the same results. I feel like my strategy is sound, but I just cannot seem to get over the hump that is the Beast!

I was able to play two games for the challenge this afternoon—one loss and one win.

First game:
Starting Blob Card: Ram
Three turn embargo; Beast authority of 62
Result: Loss
Score: -32 (–1 to 31 authority)
Rounds: 10

I was able to purchase another Ram ship and a Trade Pod during the embargo, but twice fell just short of buying a Battle Blob (thanks to forced discards from the Beast). After purchasing Blob and Trade Federation cards early, the trade row became full of Star Empire cards, and my purchasing was too spread out over the factions.

Second game:
Starting Blob Card: Blob Destroyer
Four turn embargo; Beast authority of 66
Result: Win
Score: 8 (3 to –5 authority)
Rounds: 10

I was able to load up on Blob ships early, but was down to 8 authority, with the Beast ready to launch a 9-point attack next turn. However, I picked up 4 authority on my turn, and the play of Freighter ship allowed me to buy a Battle Blob and put in on top of my deck. On my next turn the Battle Blob and a Blob Destroyer powered an 18-point attack that finished off the beast.

Thanks so much for having another one of these for us to play Shaun!

Added the Expansion, was light on bases but there were a lots of cheap Star Empire ships to build with. Last round was able to generate 28 combat for the knockout punch.

No Colony Wars for me. My first SR challenge, and it was fun. And close.

NB Authority: 58
Card: Trade Pod
Embargo: 2
Rounds: 9
W/L: Win
Score: 10 (10/0)

Just got there in time. If I had one less damage to deal I was toast.

NB Authority: 54
Card: Blob Fighter
Embargo: 1
Rounds: 8
W/L: Win
Score: 13 (11,-2)

Amazingly lucky to get so many blob cards come out in the one hand where I did not have to throw any away. Smashed that beast for 19 on the final hand.

2-0 against the beast, but I am 0-2 in the League. Luck is a fortune eh?

Thanks for posting the challenge. I will quit this one while I am ahead.

Considering the average Score for this challenge wavers around -12 to -8, I think most are doing well ... even if the wins are scarce! devil

We are only a third of the way through the month and we have already had more entries than most of the previous challenges.

Well done to all.

Been a while since I played this solo. I forgot how fun this little deckbuilder can be, I had burned out on it some using the app. I always enjoyed playing the physical card game better, something more relaxing about the experience. Thanks Shaun for the challenge and I might fit another game or two in before it's over.
