I put in 2 more rounds and they didn't go quite as well as my first win. I chose the initial card randomly and both times the embargo hurt more than helped.

Card: Blob Fighter
Score: -27
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 1
NBAuth: 54
Rounds: 13

Card: Blob Destroyer
Score: -31
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 4
NBAuth: 66

I guess I can't follow directions I put my NBauthority as the score at the end of the game, not what NB started with.

I will go back to Command school to refresh my skills and try again.

I just picked up Unity and wanted to know (while the expansion is not a part of this competition) how would you deal with the 2 color cards in any of the solo games?
Pick one color and have it effect you similar to how you deal with a Merc being of no color and picking one or having both colors hit you?

There are no official rules, but I would probably just pick one color to affect you.
I think resolving two effects would unbalance the game too much.

Wow, you are doing very well with the Ram. That's not of my favorite cards but I'm going to have to give it a try to see I do better than my last 2 games.

I stopped using the Battle Pod as for me the Ram did much better and the ability to sacrifice it for 3 allows for much better early buys when there are some 5-7 costs card out there.

Admiral,
I have good news. Initially, we lost another zone in the sector to the evil Nemesis Beast:

Card: Blob Wheel
Score: -24
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NB Auth: 62
Rounds: 11

But we were able to finally defeat them in a counter attack and regain our lost territory and more. The embargo for once was not detrimental to our effort and aided us significantly.

Card: Ram
Score: 26
W/L: Win
Embargo: 3
NB Auth: 62
Rounds: 9

We are being relieved and will travel home for some needed R&R.
Transmission out.

That is gratifying news that proves we can turn the tide.

With Commander Tawnos76 Ram fleet we are finally mounting an impressive defense that is showing results.

And Welcome to Commander Juls2! You effort is appreciated.

Played two more tonight.... both were heartbreakers.

1st Game
Card: Ram
Score: -4
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 10

I chose the Ram, even though it didn't get me enough buying power. I didn't get any Blobs during the Embargo, but I did get some good cards later on. However, it took a long time for bases to pop out of the deck . I just couldn't survive the onslaught. Final score: -4 to 23.

2nd GAme
Card: Battle Pod
Score: -4
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 2
NBAuth: 58
Rounds: 14

This was a heart-breaker. I got the Battle Pod to decrease the points on the Nemesis Beast. I during the embargo, I got the Trader Pod for cheap -- a good thing! Again, bases did pop up but I got great purchases on Blobs and Mech Carriers with some Federations to heal me. I thought I was done for and then I had a tremendous turn -- I drew 3 cars and drew/discard 2 more. I nailed the Beast for 14 but even better I healed myself for 10. I got new life, but the Beast just had too much. I got him good on more turns and thought I may be able to pull this off, but he finally got me. Final score was -4 to 2.

Great Challenge!

Just completed a second mission run, this time using the base game and added Crisis: Fleets and Fortresses.

1st Game
Card: Blob Wheel
Score: 6
W/L: Win
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 13

I thought that this was going to be an early win in round 10 or 11, but the Nemesis Beast drew some Trade Fed for extra health and started to hurt me more as I only had a couple of bases that were not coming out. In the end a close run affair with my forces scraping together to deliver the killer blow

2nd Game
Card: Blob Wheel
Score: 61
W/L: Win
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 10

This was a much better battle for me, even though NB pulled Trade Fed cards early and got his Authority up to 71.
What helped was getting 2 Blob bases during the embargo, then Trade Fed and Machine Cult bases not long after that. This helped to keep my Authority at a high level.
I had thinned my starting deck reasonably by the 8th round, and it was working together nicely as I hit it for 70 points in the last 3 rounds.

Captain Maloma returning from shore leave. Reporting for duty.
Card: Trade Pod
Score: -38
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 2
NBAuth: 58
Rounds: 12

Um- I was still reminiscing about those warm ocean waves and an umbrella drink were the friendly locals showered me with hospitality... yeah that is the reason. I failed epically but in all fairness I didn't see a Blob card the first 5 rounds and the NB kept adding 5 to authority which just made it near impossible to work fast enough.

Welcome back Commander Batcut!

It warms my soul to see so many captains improving their scores and gaining some insight into how to defeat these monsters!
Our Blob allies seem to be making some headway at last.

Well done to all the commanders! thumbsup

I picked up the solitaire expansion for Star Realms when I was on a business trip in Oakland last year and figured it was high time that I participated in a challenge!

Things went well for my first two games and went rapidly downhill after that so I called it a halt after four attempts. It was a lot of fun, so big thanks to Shaun!

On a side note ...

Ensign VikingGeek reporting in with a request for help as the Beast has chased me out of three sectors.

Game 1
Card: Blob Ram
Score: -27
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 10

At first I tried an all offensive approach, focusing on ships that could do damage. I did get a few big hits in, but the Beast knocked me out pretty easily.

Game 2
Card: Blob Wheel
Score: -18
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 15

In the second sector I focused on getting bases to offset some of his power. I did much better and had worn him down to just 6 health, but he got a big hit on me for 18 points to knock me down to -12. (I played the next hand and would have beaten him, so close).

Game 3
Card: Blob Wheel
Score: -46
W/L: Loss
Embargo: 3
NBAuth: 62
Rounds: 10

In the final sector I got hurt by the Embargo as no Blob ships came out, and the other ships cost too much with the added 1 cost. So with 3 rounds and no new ships, I was pretty much doomed. And sure enough he just whittled me down.

Thanks for the challenge!
