Normally if the Brenn is amongst two players tied for victory conditions he or she wins the tie... so tying victory conditions is pointless for two players since one player will always be Brenn? Am I missing something?

Tying victory conditions with the Brenn is pointless at all player counts. Take Them away from the Brenn or have more victory criteria met.

You're not missing anything, no. In any given round of a 2p match if your opponent is the Brenn and EITHER your opponent has a Pretender token for a single winning condition present and you don't have any and you can't implement two winning conditions for yourself that round OR you both have pretender tokens for single winning conditions but you can't manage that round to get a second one then it's game over for you.

The thing is, this game is so swift and sweet in 2p that we don't find this frustrating at all, it just... works.

LOVE this game. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
