So watching Rodneys video, and looking at the instruction book, and according to both (unless Im misunderstanding) you get 1 XP total when revealing a Rune room and turning over the medium tile in its place.

However, the Rune room itself shows a dot, as well as the medium room, so shouldnt it be 2 XP total? Other rooms like the Traps you get the xp shown on the small tiles ..... are the rune rooms different ?

wow

I was wondering this as well. After looking at everything in the book and watching Rodney's video, it really seems like you just get the 1 XP.

The small room tile is just a placeholder for the medium room tile. It is discarded as soon as it is drawn, and replaced with a draw from the stack of medium tiles. When you place the medium room tile (and therefore enter the room), you get the XP (dot) on the tile.

Traps have their XP (dots) on their tile. When you disarm the trap, you get the XP (dots) on the trap tile.

Gotcha. Thanx all. laugh

They really should have eliminated the dot on the smaller Rune tile then, since it has no purpose, other than confusing people.

It's purpose is to tell you that, if you explore it, you will get an XP. The pip on the medium size room is not visible until the small room has been explored so there's no indicator that you would get anything. It's similar to the pips on the monster player aid and on the monster dice themselves. You don't get both, you get one, the reminder just happens to be in two different places.
