I was playing my Legendary Encounters: Firefly yesterday and it really hit me. How come they didn't use this exact same system for Star Trek? It suits it even better:
1) Ship rules and upgrades fits Star Trek really well
2) The episodes system could be translated to the series
3) The "main characters" thing that doesn't work that well in the firefly setting (I'm Mal but only doing Jayne and River actions?) would fit perfectly with Star Trek (You pick your "bridge" characters and the 4 decks that form the recruiting deck represent the 4 away mission characters who beam to the planet or whatever)

In conclusion: WHERE IS MY LEGENDARY ENCOUNTERS STAR TREK????

Don't worry, the Upper Deck kindergarteners are just finishing up on the artwork. It takes time but it'll be really pretty.

This would be a huge money-spinner for Upper Deck if they could get the license. I agree that the mechanics would fit Trek quite well thematically.

You could have a base set for each series, with expansions filling out the seasons, or the movies. You could really end up with a huge selection of cards if they went down this route.

I don't think there's enough fighting in Star Trek for it to be suitable for Legendary. But maybe we'll be surprised, who knows..

Thing is, the "Strikes" could easily be rethemed as "objective points", and you take "damage" to your effectiveness on the mission. It wouldn't be as cross-compatible with the other games, but it'd work.

I was thinking along those exact same lines.

I was about to say the same thing.

While we're at it, though...

Legendary Encounters: Star Wars, anyone? Another huge franchise and currently trending much stronger than Star Trek.

I suspect FFG have the license tied up for any Star Wars card games

Probably not gonna happen officially but.. http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1411658/legendary-star-wars-...

It's not "Encounters" but nevertheless a very good "expansion" of the Legendary Marvel..

This idea really excites me. It does seem like a game that screams for a STAR TREK variant. I'm putting some ideas together
