My gaming group has recently become a regular group of five players. Most of us tend more towards the euro end of the spectrum. We've been playing things like Rococo, Terraforming Mars, El Grande, Terra Mystica, etc.

Do you have any suggestions of games that play well (or best) with five players? Some games that seat five don't actually play well with five.

Thanks!

I second Princes of Florence and Hansa Teutonica. (We also love El Grande.)

I would add:
Railways of the World
Age of Empires III/Age of Discovery
Scoville
Chicago Express

These aren't necessarily prototypical Euros, but they are at least Euroish and I enjoy them with five players:

Ticket to Ride: Europe
Roll for the Galaxy
Dominant Species
Eclipse

It would appear that no-one has mentioned Carcassonne, this is a great game that i enjoy, there are many expansions for that game as well, though i have only tried Inns & Cathedrals. It is a great, quick game for 5 players. Jamaica is another one that comes to mind...

I also feel that El Grande is one of the the best 5 player games. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Power Grid yet.

Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars, where you will be forced to drift aimlessly farther into the vast, empty abyss of space until a lack of food, water and oxygen causes you to succumb to Death's cold embrace.

CO₂ ~ Fairly tight with 5 (or 2); easier with 3 or 4. And the 2d ed. prints this year.
___Lacerda's artful design is semi-cooperative (together you must not let the world overheat).

• Still, my fav' is an old "wargame": Spies! ~ a euro-before-its-time, with sanctioning.

+1 Concordia
