Say I have 2 leaders and many CU in a space that is entered by an enemy force, and I want to do 2 separate avoid battles. Is the timing like this?

- declare leader 1 and CUs, leader 2 and CUs
- roll for 1, move if successful
- roll for 2, move if successful

Or is it like this?

- declare leader 1 and CUs, leader 2 and CUs
- roll for 1
- roll for 2
- move any that succeeded

In the first case, you have to decide where to move as you go. In the second, you get the see all the successes and failures before deciding.

I just reread the rules and from what I saw I would say that

- declare leader 1 and CUs, leader 2 and CUs
- roll for 1, move if successful
- roll for 2, move if successful

is the right call. Thematically it doesn't feel right but the rules say that

11. Avoiding Battle
11.1 Procedure
Each time an army moves, not intercepts, into a space containing
an enemy army, the enemy army may attempt to avoid battle. All
avoid battle attempts must be declared before any are resolved
All avoid battle attempts must be declared before any are resolved.

The emphasis is mine.

That is correct. The rule was written that way to force players to Avoid Battle before attempting any interceptions. To be honest, I didn't think about the case with multiple leaders in a space trying to avoid battle. But as written the rules do force you to pick the space you are avoiding to if successful before seeing the results of any other avoid battle attempts.
