Um, hello, someone has to lean in Steve's ear and tell him that's not what the press does. Thier job is to report things.

Hmm, silencing the press harkens back to darker days, namely, Germany in the 1930's. And we know what happened there.

According t him that is probably what a "good press" does. You know "if you can't say something good don't say anything at all." Works so well when applied to a free press

Probably Bannon's statement sounded better in the original German.

Translation: "Don't think for yourself and talk about things that may seem like precursors to first amendment restrictions. Fall in step with the program and just accept that this is how things are. I know I would never make a bid deal out of something the president did that I didn't like even if it was ridiculously minor so why are all of you doing that?"

And that bloated, Heroin riddled Goering look he is sporting!! A true artist who embodies the role.

What do all conspiracy theorists have in common?

They lack conviction.

No seriously, I straight up told a flat-Earther, "If you are so convinced that the governments are deceiving the people about the shape of the Earth, why aren't you building your own rockets and planes and traveling to the furthest reaches of the planet to prove it?"

So, if Trump is the new Hitler, why are you sitting here doing nothing about it?

Lack of conviction, or just plain laziness.

What Bannon really meant to say;

"The Press should shut up, UNLESS it has only good things to say about Trump".

Nothing heard from the conservatives here on the 8 years that Fox News has dedicated to trashing Obama. But of course, now, the Press should shut up, because, hey, they are not flattering to Trump.

The shoe has fallen on the other foot, and the free Press is reporting what he does or says ad nauseum. I don't look at that as either bad or good, only as necessary. The conservatives, however, look at that as bad. Bear in mind that the Press is only reacting to what Trump says or does, by reporting it. In my opinion, Trump has brought on the Press dogging because of the way he operates. When you operate in the "Twitter" arena, you have to expect that everything you say and do will be looked at, under a giant microscope. Keep your words and actions under your cuff, or closer to vest, and I think the press coverage, by necessity, will diminish.

Oh, we're doing things about it. But like all good things, they take time, effort, and resources.

Action isn't just tweeting out empty missives, pressing a button, or buying an app. It's about work.

Sometimes you don't even know what is being done to you, but that doesn't mean they aren't actively being done to you.

Sometimes the best executed plans go unseen until the moment of revelation.

No worries!

Psalm 37:

Do not fret because of those who are evil
or be envious of those who do wrong;

2for like the grass they will soon wither,
like green plants they will soon die away.

3Trust in the Lord and do good;
dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

4Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.

5Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him and he will do this:

6He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,
your vindication like the noonday sun.

7Be still before the Lord
and wait patiently for him;
do not fret when people succeed in their ways,
when they carry out their wicked schemes.

8Refrain from anger and turn from wrath;
do not fret—it leads only to evil.

9For those who are evil will be destroyed,
but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land.

10A little while, and the wicked will be no more;
though you look for them, they will not be found.

11But the meek will inherit the land
and enjoy peace and prosperity.

12The wicked plot against the righteous
and gnash their teeth at them;

13but the Lord laughs at the wicked,
for he knows their day is coming.

14The wicked draw the sword
and bend the bow
to bring down the poor and needy,
to slay those whose ways are upright.

15But their swords will pierce their own hearts,
and their bows will be broken.

16Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;

17for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous.

18The blameless spend their days under the Lord’s care,
and their inheritance will endure forever.

19In times of disaster they will not wither;
in days of famine they will enjoy plenty.

20But the wicked will perish:
Though the Lord’s enemies are like the flowers of the field,
they will be consumed, they will go up in smoke.

21The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;
22those the Lord blesses will inherit the land,
but those he curses will be destroyed.

23The Lord makes firm the steps
of the one who delights in him;
24though he may stumble, he will not fall,
for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

25I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.

26They are always generous and lend freely;
their children will be a blessing.

27Turn from evil and do good;
then you will dwell in the land forever.

28For the Lord loves the just
and will not forsake his faithful ones.

Wrongdoers will be completely destroyed ;
the offspring of the wicked will perish.

29The righteous will inherit the land
and dwell in it forever.

30The mouths of the righteous utter wisdom,
and their tongues speak what is just.

31The law of their God is in their hearts;
their feet do not slip.

32The wicked lie in wait for the righteous,
intent on putting them to death;
33but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked
or let them be condemned when brought to trial.

34Hope in the Lord
and keep his way.
He will exalt you to inherit the land;
when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.

35I have seen a wicked and ruthless man
flourishing like a luxuriant native tree,
36but he soon passed away and was no more;
though I looked for him, he could not be found.

37Consider the blameless, observe the upright;
a future awaits those who seek peace.

38But all sinners will be destroyed;
there will be no future for the wicked.

39The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord;
he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

40The Lord helps them and delivers them;
he delivers them from the wicked and saves them,
because they take refuge in him.

All that said, the invitation to freely join the Lord still stands Why perish with the worthless when you can live with the righteous?

I feel like that was actually pretty hostile. The whole "wicked will perish" edge to it seems like he's saying "anyone who doesn't agree with my religion is likely to have some real bad stuff happen to them."

That is a pretty common religious belief, so if he's talking about spiritually or in the afterlife, fine, but if he's talking about now, here, on earth, that feels like a threat or at least a weird hostile thing to say.

Yeah, even then... quoting scripture when it isn't relevant or welcome, seems kinda offensive to me.

Just because I think my you know what's are divine, and are the path to God for you, I'm not necessarily going to whip them out and proselytize their wonders to you.

Your repeated defenses of Trump in spite of all that he's said and done makes me extremely skeptical about your judgment of worthlessness and righteousness. I don't think your Lord is the same one that I grew up loving.

Also, the Trump administration's adopting of authoritarian practices perfected by the Nazis (and Hussein, and Putin, and Erdogan...) is relevant and alarming regardless of whether concentration camps are currently up and running.

Wonder what the reaction would have been had Bannon said the same thing, only pointing his finger at the 60+ million American voters who didn't vote for Trump?

Yeah you don't see me quoting Nine Inch Nails lyrics at Christians out of context for example.

<MOST PREDICTABLE RESPONSE EVER BELOW>

Shut up, so what, what does it matter now?
I was swimming in the haze, now I crawl on the ground
And everything I never liked about you
Is kinda seeping into me
Try to laugh about it now but isn't it funny how everything works out
"I guess the joke's on me,"

~~~
Take that you pagan.
Q: How can you tell when someone's backed into a corner?
A: They start copypasting scripture with very little relation to the discussion.
I feel like that was actually pretty hostile. The whole "wicked will perish" edge to it seems like he's saying "anyone who doesn't agree with my religion is likely to have some real bad stuff happen to them."
That is a pretty common religious belief, so if he's talking about spiritually or in the afterlife, fine, but if he's talking about now, here, on earth, that feels like a threat or at least a weird hostile thing to say.
The fact that he claimed to believe in another thread that a race war is being fought against whites gives it an extra little frisson of horror.
