I will be going to this year's con, and would like to make sure that AW gets some exposure, especially in light of Imperium Romanum being up for re-issue. Personally, I think after play AW, there's no going back to IR, and I would love to see Decision Games focus their efforts on a better game.

Brief recap:

I had a pre-arranged game to play a game from this series, with the scenario being Trojan's war against Armenia and Persia. We started early afternoon, so we didn't get to complete the campaign game. However, we got as far as if we had played the second scenario. My Romans got as far as Ctesiphon, the first Persian capital, while holding onto the Armenia conquest despite some guerrilla tactics from Persia. A continuation would have been close. Rome definitely has the troop quality advantage, while the Persian cavalry can pose significant threats. The game plays pretty quickly; even with as little time as we had, we completed 3 of 5 game years (each with monthly turns from April to September and two Winter turns).
