I am thrilled that Wings of War is finally coming to WWII, and so I was inspired to make a little wish list. Here are some planes that I would like to see released. This is not meant to be a complete list, and I realize that it is rather biased towards the Americans. If anyone would like to chime in with cool aircraft that I missed, go right ahead. I am thrilled about all the plans that have been announced for this series so far. I'd just like to recommend that the designers add a large variety of aircraft as quickly as is reasonable. The squadron packs are neat, but new aircraft are even more exciting. Without further ado...

High Priority: Fighters
Messerschmitt Bf 109F & G
Focke-Wulf Fw 190
Messerschmitt Me 262
Lockheed P-38 Lightning
Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk/Warhawk

North American P-51 Mustang
Grumman F6F Hellcat
Nakajima Ki-84 "Frank"

I'm not sure if you know this, but the designer has the list out already:

Wow, that's quite a list - there's a lot of cool planes there! I can't think of many you have missed. I'd love some Royal New Zealand Air Force planes, maybe a Kittyhawk or Corsair from the Pacific or a New Zealand piloted Wildcat or Hellcat from the Fleet Air Arm.

One cool expansion for me would be a battle of the North Atlantic, with German Condors, catapult Hurricanes, maybe a carrier borne Wildcat or two. I'm not sure you could add a ship in, I don't think the scale would support it but that would be really great - something for the Condors to attack, or turn it around and have Mosquitos attacking German shipping!

I have Dawn of War on order, can't wait for it to arrive.

.

I know. I'm just fantasizing about what will be in the *next* couple of box sets. I'm thinking it would be cool if they did something like this for their release schedule:
Dawn of War
Midwar - Europe
Dive/Torpedo Bombers
Midwar - Pacific
Heavy Bombers
Late War

And, of course, there would be squadron packs and other blisters released in between these boxes. World War II involved so many different aircraft that this game series could easily triple the number of sets as are in the WWI series.

Actually, there was one shot down. To quote Wikipedia: "There is a record of one V-2, fortuitously observed at launch from a passing American B-24 Liberator, being shot down by .50 caliber machine-gun fire"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-2_rocket

I'm thinking they were included in the list to be ground attack targets, though

While I'm making a wish list, one more recommendation: when the box set with heavy bombers is released, it would be cool if the nose art for the bomber was on the back of the card. It would add a nice historical touch--and a lot of the nose art was pretty cool. I'd love to fly the Memphis Belle and be able to take a look at the art.

I guess there's more to starting a game company than just having a name... :(

What we are dealing with here is a perfect engine, a gaming machine. It's really a miracle of evolution. All this gamer does is sleep and eat and place little meeples, and that's all.

I'm with you with the P-38 (my personal fav) and the Fw190. P47 and P51 too.
I like the Kawanishi N1K-J "George" as a good match for the Corsair, both of which would be on my short list.

the V-1 could be an interesting solo mission. planes would fly alongside them and 'tip' them...

landing on an aircraft carrier could be interesting too.
the heavy bombers would be cool as well. I don't think they'd be fun to play, but escorting them or shooting them down will be cool.

I'd love to see some very late production / experimental German planes. Here is my wish list:

Ta-152. Best piston engine production fighter of the war. Didn't make it to production until very late in war.

Me-262. First production jet fighter in history. Just didn't produce enough to make a difference.

Ta-183. Next generation jet fighter after the 262. Never made it to production, was the basis of the Mig-15.

Do-335A. Fastest piston engine fighter in the war. Used a very unique design of a standard engine in the front and one another in the rear.

Focke-Wulf Treibflugel. Why not? A proposal for a vertical take-off interceptor.

He-162. The peoples fighter. A lightweight jet fighter designed to be produced cheaply in large quantity

I would think the 262 will make it at some point, the rest are a stretch, but you can always hope.

TK.
