How is the following room resolved (Revenge card shows a "5"):

4 5 5
4 4 5

The real question is when are "6"s resolved that are below your left-right-up progression?

1. Immediately and recursive? Room result:

6 6 6
6 6 6

2. As left-right-up progression reaches "6"s, and restart progression for skipped "6"s repeatedly? Room result:

5 6 6
5 6 6 <-- left 6 initially skipped

3. As left-right-up progression reaches "6"s, any skipped "6"s are not resolved? Room result:

5 6 6
4 6 6 <-- left 6 permanently skipped

A smaller more likely scenario would be the following, but doesn't show an example of option #3:

4 5
4 5

From combing the Rules forum this is what I believe is the answer:

Q) Please, clarify how chain reactions of fire effects and explosions work.
A) When resolving fire effects, do 1 row at a time starting with the bottom row. For each row, start with the leftmost room and work your way to the right. As you go, check to see if the room's fire level matches the revenge card. If so, increase the fire level by 1. Call this room X. If this results in an explosion, resolve the explosion. If that results in an explosion, resolve the second explosion. Continue until all resulting explosions are resolved. Then, return to resolving fire effects with the room after room X. If, as you go, you come to a room that was increased previously by an explosion so that it now matches the card, its fire level is increased by 1 even though it did not match the card when you first drew it. If an explosion raises the fire level in a room to the fire level that is on the card, but you already checked that room for a fire effect because if came before room X, then it does not go up again.

Here is where I gathered my information:

I'm thinking some more about this.

In your example
4 5 5
4 4 5
are all rooms fully connected by doors? Or are there some walls between rooms?

I'll assume fully connected by doors.

In your example, what color are the dice and what color is your card?

I'll assume your card is the double whammy of both red and yellow.

Then I believe it goes like this:

Lower left room is unaffected because it is not a 5.
4 5 5
4 4 5

Lower middle room is unaffected because it is not a 5.
4 5 5
4 4 5

Lower right room changes from a 5 to a 6.
4 5 5
4 4 6

Lower right room explodes affecting its neighbors.
4 5 6
4 5 X

Upper right room explodes affecting its neighbor.
4 6 X
4 5 X

Upper middle room explodes affecting its neighbors.
5 X X
4 6 X

Lower middle room explodes affecting its neighbor.
5 X X
5 X X

No more explosions for now. Return to checking for fire effects. The last room checked was lower right room so now it is on to upper left room.

Upper left room matches the card and goes from a 5 to a 6.
6 X X
5 X X

Upper left room explodes affecting its neighbor.
6 X X

Lower left room explodes.

A good worked example. That's how I'd like to think I'd've played it!

So immediately and recursive it is, thanks!

Thanks for this good example. It does make the game very difficult if you get the red and yellow 5. I had a board of 3s, 4s and 5s and had 20 explosions if I continued on even after losing.
