I am creating a new thread for RedJak's Automated Imperial Variant(RAIV)

As most of you know RedJak has decided to move onto bigger and better things in the world of gaming. In doing so he had to make time by relieving himself of this project in the hopes that someone would pick up where he had left off.

This is where I come in. I have taken the resources he has provided to continue creating for this amazing variant. I can already see how much time this project eats up!

With that being said, I hope to keep the lights on for current and future expansions and Ally/Villain packs.

I want to make perfectly clear that any and all credit remains with RedJak as he was the brains behind this Variant, I am simply using his templates to update the new content.

With that being said, I am proud to say that I have finished with Jabba's Realm expansion and look forward to printing out my own copies!!

About RAIV:

Winner of the 1 Player Guild Gaming Awards: Best Solitaire Variant of 2015.

RedJak's Automated Imperial Variant (RAIV) is a solo/co-op variant for Imperial Assault campaigns.

Unlike RedJak's Automated Emperor Variant (RAEV), RAIV does not attempt to simulate an Imperial player. Instead, the focus is on giving the enemy forces a simple AI that governs how they will react to their surroundings. The function of an Imperial player is replaced by the use of Event cards, which harass the players with various effects throughout a mission. While RAEV has a lot of rules to attempt to cover all aspects of an Imperial player, RAIV strips away the fiddly bits for a more streamlined experience.

Hi frenchie,

Thanks so much for picking up the ball on this. RAIV is the only way I get to play IA, as the groups in my area have already formed their cliques, and I can find no one else interested in playing the campaign.

I produced the cards in A4 PDF format for the previous batch of IA stuff, with Redjack's approval. If there is still interest from other players, may I have your permission to do so with your efforts?

Hopefully, we will see the app for IA from FFG sooner, rather than later, so we can spend more time playing, and less time creating.

Ok we are up to date!!

Wave 8 Ally/Villain packs have been added, along with a small correction on the Gamorrean Guard AI card.

The full pack will have EVERYTHING you need to print out cards for this system. Incremental updates will happen whenever new packs are released. Old incremental packs will be removed as new packs show up. However if you need a specific card you can always download the full pack to grab what you need.

Again, if you see anything that needs to be corrected please let me know and I will try to fix it as soon as I can.

Time for me to print out some cards and enjoy a game!

Thanks for taking this over. By the way I think the current card count should be at 208, not 207.

We were at 181.

*Jabba's Realm had 6 AI cards and 16 missions
*AVP had 4 missions and 1 AI card for the Dewback rider.

I would like to say thank you for continuing Redjak,s work, my game group and I only play imperial assault and decent 2nd edition with Redjak's awesome variants. We have not tried the new app for decent yet.

Are you going to add new Event, Imperial Agenda, and Rebel Aid cards to reflect the new Imperial-class cards in Jabba's Realm, like nemesis.

First of all I want to say thanks to Redjack, Bryan, Jeff and all the community behind RAIV. Yesterday I tried Aftermath and I think it's a good compromise, well done!

May I ask you if there is a Campaign Log compatible with RAIV? Ios, Android, excel, paper... it does not matter.
And a playmat?

Hey all,

First off, thanks to everyone involved in this project! I just started a solo campaign, and the first mission was great!

A few questions regarding the event deck:

Do I add all of the discarded events back into the event deck and shuffle it to start a new mission? Do global events stay in effect for the next mission?

What about rebel aid and imperial agenda cards? are they added back into the deck?

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hey Dale,

Everytime you start a new mission, you reset the decks per the redjak rules reference.

As far as the event deck regarding the imperial agenda/rebel aid cards:

**From the RedJak Rules**

Completing A Mission

The Imperial AI does not gain or spend XP or influence during the campaign.

If the Imperial AI would gain a deployment card as a reward from a mission, then it is added to the Deployment Deck, regardless of the card's deployment cost.

If the Imperial AI would gain a non-deployment reward card for any reason, add an Imperial Agenda card to the Event deck instead.

If the heroes won the mission, draw one Imperial Agenda card and add it to the Event Deck.

If the Imperial AI won the mission, draw one Rebel Aid card and add it to the Event Deck.

I'm trying to understand some implications of the R ability on Imperial AI cards.

The rules state "Some figures will have special triggers and responses that can occur outside of its normal activation. This is a reactive trigger, and will be noted by an R. Responses to reactive triggers only occur when the trigger is met, they are not necessarily checked as a possible trigger during normal figure activation."

Looking then at the Snowtrooper AI card, it says as its first item, "R: If this figure or an adjacent friendly Trooper has a harmful condition: Use Environmental Recovery Gear ability to discard a condition."

So given that R can trigger "outside of its normal activation" per the rules, does this mean that if a figure next to a Snowtrooper gains a harmful condition (during a hero activation and attack, for example), the Snowtrooper immediately interrupts game play and uses an action (even though it's not the Snowtrooper's activation and thus the Snowtrooper really doesn't have any actions to use) to remove the condition? That's what the R seems to imply, but that seems really unintuitive to me since generally figures can't do things otherwise in the game that cost an action unless it's their activation.

It seems more likely that the Snowtrooper would only use its Environmental Recovery Gear ability during its own activation (when it has actions to use), and thus it would only check for the trigger to use this action during its activation, and THUS the R would be unnecessary (since any action only being performed during an activation wouldn't need the R symbol).

Can someone help explain the intended game flow in this situation? Is the R in this case redundant (or unnecessary)?
