Hi everyone,

Just getting into the game. Loving the C&C series.

I know there have been similar topics but I have a specific question:

What's the average amount of dice (5,6,7,8?) each should each side have to make play go as smoothly as possible and to minimize having to pass dice back and forth?

I'm looking at buying the laser etched ones here and I'm debating between how many sets of 8 to get. I'm leaning towards two sets but I'm not sure so that's why I'm asking the question.

Thank you!

I have 3 sets of dice

One set should be sufficient... unless you're playing EPIC... in that case 4 sets may be in order.

I would get 1 set per player - basing it on how many will be playing the epic and LGB games.

if you have BattleCry, those dice are the same.

With two players, 8 dice and a box lid, tower, tray, or other dedicated space to roll them in off to one side should be sufficient.

For epic games, the same rig at each end of the board.

For any game, I think dice should be common between all players whenever possible. Just be sure there are plenty around the table and easy access to a fair space to roll them. (Never on the board/map!)

Just as a counter-point to Brady, a typical unit usually rolls no more than 4 dice. So you could get away with one set per two players.

But if the intent is to never pass dice, then there are cases where some units roll more than 4 as a standard and some cards can increase that. So a set per player would result in almost never having to pass dice. An exception would be combined arms and the right circumstances to roll more than that (thought I have never tried to figure out a maximum possible dice roll).

When we play M44 overlord, we give each general 4 dice and let the center general pass back and forth when are needed on one side.

We use one set of Battlecry dice for our standard games. For epic games I have 3 more sets of these,

Cigar boxes are great for throwing dice,

Going to need all the dice I can get for a "La Grande Battle" Waterloo game later this month.

I have purchased several different sets (CCN, CCA & Battle Cry) dice from him. Not cheap, but the product is high-quality and look 1000% better than the crappy dice GMT sees fit to include with an otherwise excellent game series.

He also gets them out to you pretty quickly.
