Is such a thing possible? Maybe people already do it?

Say for a game like Flight Leader

Stack the pieces on invisible chips maybe? Or set the altitude somehow?

I don't know if it is "possible", but maybe just use dice next to the model to indicate which level the model is flying? Or do you want an actual difference in hight between models?
