Never played it, but I would assume so if a few things are true:

1) Can the game be played reasonably with open information? In other words, when it comes time for the AI to make its move, can you the player look at its hand of cards and allow it to make decisions? (Remember, the Solo System is a lot like playing two sided. Not quite, but it is close.)

2) If it cannot, can you modify the rules by giving the AI a significant handicap to allow you to play it with open information? An example would be for you to draw 5 cards and choose the two best ones if the AI normally draws 2 cards each turn.

If you fool around with any game enough, you could probably get the Solo System to work with one exception: Bluffing. The AI cannot bluff.

I do know that there is at least one solitaire variant for Doom out there. If you didn't like that one, you might be able to use the Solo System in coordination with that variant to play Doom Solo.
