It is the 17th century in the East Indies. You are in charge of two ships, and you have a clear mission: Find valuable spices, and bring them back home. You can do so the honest way. Load trading goods into your ship and sail to an island with locals. Then trade those goods for spices.
Or, you could battle your opponents. If you win a battle, you can steal a spice from them. But if you lose, they can steal or break something of yours. Repair or upgrade your ship at Market Island. Increase your cannons to win battles, your sail to outsail your opp
onents or your cargo hold so you can carry more goods at a time.
And then there are pirates out there...Get too close to one and they will shoot your ship to smithereens...

Be the first one to trade or steal 8 spices and bring them to your home island before anyone else, and win...The Dutch East Indies!

The Dutch East Indies plays 2-4 (5-8 with two copies) and lasts for 45-90 minutes per game. It has very easy rules but allows for very strategic gameplay.
