I recently purchased the game and wonder which expansion is recommended to get first and why. Thanks.

Both, because you want more circuits!
Don't forget to download the fan-made circuits too!

Purchase both before they sell out.

Exp 1 Belgium / Monaco introduces Extreme Trajectories and team rules.

Exp 2 Spain / England introduces Sharp Trajectories, and also have Extreme Trajectories.

If you only have enough money for one, the buy expansion 1 first, as it is closer to running out of stock (since it has been around longer).

Where did you buy the game from. Its almost out of stock. Did you pay over the odds?

BTW both expansions are recommended, yo add to the above.
Expansion 1- Also includes the provision for a Championship season.
Expansion - Adds 2 new strategies and 2 new driver skills. ( Includes updated chits for Hazard n Banging wheels strategies)

Moreover you would better of getting minis from shape ways n painting them for a much richer experience.

Both! But if I had to choose, Spa Monaco.

Also make sure you download the 3 Liter v1.1 rules, with the corrected tactics.

I've been keeping my eyes open for this as well without paying outrageous prices.

Yeah one pro for going with Expansion 2 is the cost.

I just received my game and expansions from the Gotha site, there was discount on one expansion. I thought it well worth getting the expansions as I have missed a few games with them being discontinued after a couple of years.

@Rob Koch.
You can directly get from their site.
But beware of customs. Though I'm not sure how it will be in the US. It posted me 110£ including shipping for all 3.
But customs added another 40£ . So overall in USD its 200.

I have looked directly at the site but the cost is way above wait want to throw at a game right now as I'm trying to save up for a 3D printer.

I'd love to have this game but the cost for the base set alone is quite high. I seem to find games I like lately that don't have a wide distribution or availability. soblue

It does not help that the base game is very heavy. It cost me $11 last week to ship it from FL to GA.

Thank you for all your replies! I'll be sure to check out the fan made material as well. Do you print those on regular paper or do you somehow use cardboard?
