Hello and welcome,

this thread hosts an Road to Legend Campaign.

Comments and remarks are welcomed, either via Forum Mail or as post in this thread.

I play with the following customized rules / game setup:

General & Overland Map:
1. all 74 dungeons from RtL and SoB
2. dungeons: are shuffled when exhausted
3. feats: are shuffled when exhausted, double pack
4. C/S/G-treasures: are shuffled when exhausted
3. rumors: no news / tavern brawl cards are shuffled back into deck at end of week
4. final battle as RtL rules, but the OL may use threat as in encounters
5. all named monsters from RtL dungeons have +8w +1a per campaign level > copper
6. overlord's keep counts as 4th level for adding w/a for named monsters

=> I justed noticed that the not bought market treasures are shuffled back into deck at the end of the week. Thus the probability to get Falcon 's claw or SoG is much smaller than placing those treasures on a discard pile which is shuffled when exhausted.

Encounters:
7. +1T per encounter turn for OL
8. OL using threat to boost damage is limited to 5 dice upgrades (~PowerPotion)
9. OL using threat to boost movement is limited to double monster speed
10. locations are shuffled before each encounter
11. encounters are shuffled if the deck is exhausted
12. played encounters are discarded
13. drawn encounters not matching the color code are discarded
14. melee attacks with reach can not target flying/soaring figures

Overlord:
15. Thaadd the Destroyer: equipped items are those in hands/armor/other slot
16. Crushing Blow can crush (=discard) any carried items
17. Crushing Blocks (or other obstacles) may NOT be placed adjacent to a glyph
18. pits deal 2 wounds, like trap cards do
19. command: affects all spaces a small figure with speed 3 could fly to
20. a 'dark charm'ed hero makes only one attack under the control of the OL (no rage)
21. after a 'Killing Blow' feat card from the heros an attack is not dodge-able anymore

Heros:
24. heros can draw from treasure decks equal or less than the current campaign level
25. Rapid Fire is limited to once per attack
26. cursed items curse the owner each time they are equipped into hands/armor/other slot
27. knockback works only on enemy figures
28. shadowsoul before everything else
29. secret masters offer 2W/1F as training option
30. sleeping heros cannot do anything
31. hero group total fatigue may not exceed 24
32. Blessed/Spiritwalker/Astarra/Kirga: like command with range 3/5

Hmm, that is not an easy choice! I like Zyla from Pile 1, she IS the coolest runner, even tho Tatianna is maybe even better after getting acrobat. But Zyla is ready right from Turn 1. And Zyla is good versus Razorwings. So Beastman Lord with Kratz is already a good way less threatening to the hero group. On the other hand i realy would like to try out Mok from Pile 1. I love Spiritwalker not less than i love Zyla - just cool. But in the end - Zyla secures that the hero group can flee on encounter almost ever, she lessens the probability of Kratz and a perfect runner from week 1 on. So i take Zyla from Pile1.

So the runner is set, who's the tank then? There is Trenloe the Strong, but i also like Ronan of the Wild a lot. He can give away Pico to a melee or mage hero to boost peak damage and still be an alright ranged guy. But then only Hawthorne is left as tank/melee guy. That's a tough thing with armor 1 only. He's much cooler than Trenloe tho! But ok, Trenloe as Tank from Pile 4.

That basically rules out Hawthorne from Pile 3 because two melees are too much in a party somehow - or? Well Landrec rules with two extra surges. Cone of Fire and the two Staves deliver extreme damage with that and Sunburst is blast 1 ready right from the start basically. Hmm, if i take Hawthorne then i need a mage from pile 2 could be Sahla or Kel. Both would somehow be ok. Furthermore Landrec can draw subterfuge cards. With +8r feats for mages this is interesting as well. Hawthorne with Sweep is not less interesting tho! Trenloe for Taunt, Hawthorne for Damage? Would make sense somehow. And then i have two melee guys who can deliver enough damage for the first levels. Yes, and i like him just more than Landrec. So Hawthorne from pile3.

That rules out Laurel from pile2 - too bad. But well, i take Sahla from Pile 2. If i have only one real mage i i think he's the better one to handle the Staff of the Grave, which is a must have. But Kel on the other hand has one more trait dice and ignores shadowcloak, very well for outdoor encounters as well. And one more armor ... I take Sahla, somehow i want to try him.

Trenloe, Hawthorne, Zyla, Sahla ... sounds pretty good for me!
