Hard to fight for social justice and a caring American society when all the fear and hate mongers have been sent to pasture.

It's what I wanted since the beginning of RSP and now I've gotten my wish.

But still...

I guess that is reflective of our current political situation as we spend the next four years chasing our own demons back into the dark places.

The absence of things like pictures of corpses and the like does make for slightly more civilized venue for discussion.

I don't buy it. I see some decent discussions being attempted in cordial fashion, but with the insults and baseless venom from some of the banned right wingers no longer posted, it has pointed out the general weakness of many conservative/right wing arguments. Without the bile they don't seem to have any cogent or logical points to be made. And the disaster that is Trump hasn't helped their cause, even though they are unlikely to admit it.

Oh, I most certainly agree that Trump hasn't helped the cause of conservatism, and specifically the discussion of conservatism here in this forum. Conservatism now is nothing but what Trump does, therefore conservatives here are all on board with Trump.

And I assert that there are plenty of good points for conservative, not to say every conservative position is unassailable, but they are worthy of discussion. But now they get subjected to dog-piling by sheer numbers, and the fallback position of "But Trump."

It used to be that I had no real conversation I could take part in because what was being put forth as "the conservative position" was the hyper-libertarian, anti-government view. Now there's no conversations to be had because all conversations are "Conservatives like what Trump is doing." I got tired of fighting the RINO caricature, and now I face the Trumpian caricature. Gosh, I so look forward to it.

Interesting that the left doesn't see themselves as at least AS fear-mongerish and hateful as the right.

24/7 non-stop fear and hate (and violence) over Trump since well before the election. Much MUCH more hate than the right. By a wide margin.

Own it.

PS - Oh, but I suppose it's a righteous hate and violence and fear, so it's totally ok and all. Now where have I heard that before?

Am I confused? I recall posts by you that your goal was to shut RSP down.

I don't miss being personally insulted by toxic people and still find RSP interesting. It feels more like what it used to be like before moderation was removed tho it's not all the way there yet.

Not all conservatives are pro trump.

Sadly, ted cruz is acting that way. I mean, I find him repellent, but he clearly was pwned by the money people behind the party and has come to heal.

On the other hand, with Khrusty banned, the place smells nicer already. There's a spring in people's steps and it's a new day.

(what? he's not? )

Never mind.

You could always join the facebook RSP group to see what you're missing! Tripp is there. And BJ and TStone. And Hyperbolus and Wytefang and DeadKenny. Drew too, but he blocked all three of the liberals.

It's about what you'd expect.

I'm sure Drew followed reasonable well documented guidelines in banning the liberals.

Hitler?

Personally I see a difference, for example, between fearing/hating Obama for bringing socialism to America and fearing/hating Trump for bragging about how he molested women. Or between demanding Obama's birth certificate and demanding Trump's tax returns.

I do believe the Russia issue is a bit overblown, because before the election Clinton was the one who had much deeper connections to Russia and they were ignored. Of course releasing emails of only one party before an election is influencing it, but so is accepting millions of dollars in donations to your foundation from people involved in an uranium mining company that is part owned by a Russian state corporation.

Not really. The problem with your statement is that it's not even remotely true.

Saying that Mr. Trump was a serial adulterer who bragged about sexually assaulting women wasn't hateful... it was true.

Saying that Mr. Trump bragged about breaking his word and blocked payment of millions to thousands of his employees and business partners wasn't hateful... it was true.

Saying that Mr. Trump was going to remove people's health care and replace it with something else wasn't hateful.. it was true. It was speculation that what he would replace it with would be worse but that was a reasonable conclusion to draw given McConnell, Ryan, and Mr. Trump's statements.

Saying that Mr. Trump was ignorant and overly casual about nuclear weapons and using them in war wasn't hateful... it was true.

Saying that Mr. Trump was completely ignorant of diplomacy and more likely to cause problems with other nations wasn't hateful- it was true.

Saying that Mr. Trump was corrupt and funneling 75% of campaign donations into his own pocket instead of spending it to be elected wasn't hateful... it was true.

Saying that Mr. Trump was acting very odd about Russia wasn't hateful. It was true. And Mr. Trump and his senior campaign officials were all recently exposed as serially lying for months about the crimean plank.

Saying that Mr. Trump literally incited his followers to violence and offered to pay their legal bills if they beat non violent protesters up wasn't hateful... it was true.

It's true there was fear and anger. It was clear Mr. Trump was going to return us to the days of racial and sexual discrimination. And it was clear from the debates that he was completely incompetent and the U.S. would suffer terribly relative to other nations during his term in office.

Strenuous efforts to point out these true things were met with personal attacks here in RSP. Trump supporters didn't even try to contest them. They simply spewed venom or tried Conwayesque pivots and derailment.

You are very mistaken about the behavior of the left. The people I know were working hard to register voters and get out the vote despite Texas voter suppression laws (that were found illegal way to late). Personally, I didn't think they had a chance in Texas but they certainly were not engaging in violence.

It's open to all RSPers. Send a geek mail to Quozl and he can add you.

Just remember to be careful to keep the two worlds separate, since you don't want to accidentally get banned here for repeating a Drewism or something.

Let me know when you're ready to be intellectually honest about the vitriol and name calling and fear mongering and hate and violence we're seeing from the left, both out in the real world as well as right here in RSP (all except the violence in RSP, though I wonder what kind of threats would exist without the threat of moderation).

There are 3-4 very toxic individuals (who have somehow managed to avoid getting banned) that have nothing to say toward any conservatives about any topic that aligns with conservatism (or heaven forbid, does not 100% demonize Trump) other than hate and vitriol.

oh we are so pure and innocent we did not spend 8 years in negative campaigning full of fear and vitriol , rumours and falsehoods and then select a candiate whose entire platform was built on it.

Then wonder why you get the same tatics back.

A) I did not select Trump. A whole bunch of very foolish people did.

B) Who is wondering anything? I've been expecting this. It would be quite unexpected for liberals or conservatives to suddenly own their unbelievable level of hypocrisy.

People have been literally comparing Trump to Hitler with every breath for several months solid, shouting from the rooftops about how he's looking to usher in an all male, white-supremacist golden age, and then have the audacity to claim that the conservatives are fearful.

Yeah, Trump is awful. I really despise him. I'm fairly certain he's going to turn out to be one of the worst presidents we've ever had.

But why stop there? Spread the fear. He's coming for your children! He'll eat your babies! If you're not standing in a freeway blocking traffic or lighting things on fire thrice a week, then you're not afraid enough. Try harder.
