Like Hive. Only caveat I think is that my wife isn't into any dice rolling.

Surely there must be others but I can't think of any. Any help is appreciated.

There are too many to list them all! I'll recommend several from my list of nestorgames I've played (Nestorgames explored by russ), e.g. Stax is very Hive-like. We also like Pent-up and Seven a lot. There are a lot more in that geeklist. Have fun!

Babylon is one, an excellent casual game for cafe or tavern:

Six is another, and far more interesting in my opinion:

Thanks Russ and Justin! For some reason I was thinking all the Nestorgames had a board, silly of me. There's plenty of here for me wade through.

If anyone else has some favorites please be sure to throw 'em out.

Amoeba is one with Looney Pyramids and poker chips I've been wanting to try recently. I've seen it get some praise lately.

Qwirkle fits the bill, and it's very easy to come by. IOTA sort of hybridizes Qwirkle with SET.

Cubeo is very Hive-like, and can be played with six dice for each of two players (in two different colors, of course). The dice are not rolled! They are used for pieces.

Does Axiom count as having a (albeit threedimensional) board?

Oh, Cubeo looks like it might be a winner, though it's very Hive-like.

Axiom counts, but I don't like the look of it.

So far Six, Seven and Cubeo are the winners.

I like the look of the Shibumi games too, but I would want the $100 set and I can't justify that right now.
