I took out the foreign-language rule books. I took out the cardboard resource chits. I took out the exposition tiles. I took out the art book. I took out the spare reference cards. I took out the user-customisable parts.

Then, by jumping up and down on what was left, I just about got the lid to close on the box.

Strew th, and I thought my Scythe box was pretty full!

Haha!

I read the subject, and the first paragraph, and I was like "he can't seriously be complaining that there is too much air in the box…"

Then, I read the rest

It may be the cheapest game I ever bought (Dollars per Pound of Game)!

Only Caverna: The Cave Farmers may come close!

Well, Pandora's box is not a bad, euh, fit for that kind of game, is it?
It's probably best to send some components into a time loop

I had the same thought as Adrian while reading the subject title.
Anachrony and Gloomhaven are certainly two games where you can't complain about air content!

It is not too bad if you take the insert out (although I don't have the miniatures), but yeah a big box with a lot of stuff

I didn't get an insert (as I have the miniatures). And boy it's hard to get the lid closed with just the essentials in the box!

LOL! If it's "not too bad" without the insert when you have no minis, just imagine making the box 3 cm shallower (the minis tray takes 3 cm depth and is the full height and width of the box).

Funny thing though, while my box is certainly full, I have no problem getting it closed with all the rulebooks (all three languages) and the art book inside. I don't put the sleeve back on though, but I think it's mostly due to how I pack it, and the fact I've made air holes in all the plastic bags.

Seriously, I had no problem to put back everything in the box sealed in ziplocks and put the sleeve back on.

The box is really full for sure .

I just took out the multi-language rules, keep all the user customization parts and keep the modules inside with reprinted rules for use include in the box. Not a problem, full but not a problem.
Still using the sleeve, safe and sound.

agreed. I think Gloomhaven actually weighs more for the same price, but both of them have a superb per pound price.

I put the unused rulebooks under the mini's tray. They fit in there without pushing the tray up and they are pretty much out-of-sight-out-of-mind. But, if I ever need/want to sell it, they are still there.

How did you do that? The tray molds reach almost directly across its full height. If you put rulebooks there, it lifts the whole thing.

I personally would like a bigger box. I usually buy fish tackle plastic containers to place game tokens; I care about games like this one. The frustration is with the boards as they are with the box dimensions it's really really hard to find containers to fit! In gest: perhaps you should get an origami specialist help with the proportions of the game boxes to make us very happy when we look to get containers to fit with all other in box boards etc. just say'in!

Also, the rulebook is just about 5mm too long to fit sideways into the box.

Actually there is some air in the box, and I needed some of it when designing my insert. It is in the bottom of the tray which I put into the box upside down to store my alternative resorurces and water drops. And with that trick everything still fits into the box. Including all rulebooks.

I can confirm that there is now a LOT more space in the box once I'd added a few square feet of foamcore.
